(PERSONAL) Los Angeles, February 21, 1930. Mr. F. H. Knickerbocker: Your le t t e r o f February 20, F ile 085-355, re la tiv e to the proposed increase o f water rates, Las Vegas* I return herewith attached correspondence fo r Mr. Bracken, as I have already been furnished with a copy, also a copy o f the proposed schedule. In comparing the figures submitted by Mr. Bracken in his le tte r of February 18 with the figures heretofore computed by Mr. Jackson, there appears to be a considerable discrepancy, Mr. Jackson’ s figures showing only about one-half of the estimated earnings computed by Mr. Bracken. Mr. Jackson is awaiting a report from the auditor’ s o ffic e , at which time he w ill recheck a ll the figures and we w ill compose the same in accordance with the true situation. We are now endeavoring to secure the most favorable amendments possible to the permit heretofore approved by the City o f Las Vegas, and we should o f course secure this permit f i r s t before submitting our new rate schedule to the Public Service Commission o f Nevada. I fe e l that i t is not the opportune time to attempt to secure a raise on the present water rates, owing to the conditions now at Las Vegas, and i t would please me very much to have an opportunity to discuss the situation with Mr. Gray while he is in Lo3 Angeles.
