M r . J .Ir o s s Clark (2) was not occupied and I am sure his services could he secured at a reasonable figure for a period of sixty or ninety days or whatever time might be required to' make a thorough study and report on the valley we discussed, together with its tributary countiy. As I stated to you verbally, I noticed a patch of common corn and a patch of kaffir corn right alongside of it, and as near as I could judge the fodder from the kaffir corn would at least go three to one compared with the common corn. It appears to me it would be very much to our interest to have that section of country developed and that we could afford to take the preliminary steps to do so, especially in view of the fact that we are contemplating increase of business by construction of new lines, and therefore we might well afford to do whatever may be advisable for the development of country along that portion of our line already constructed.
