ORDINANCE NO. 164. An Ordinance to amend Section 7 of Ordinance No. 48 of the City of Las Vegas, entitled "An Ordinance of the City of Las Vegas, licensing, for the purpose of regulation and revenue, every kind of lawful business hereinafter specified, transacted or carried on within the corporate limits of the City of Lias Vegas, State of Nevada, fixing the rates of license tax upon the same and providing for the collection of said of said license tax, and a punishment for carrying or or conducting any such business without a license, and repealing Ordinances Nos. 1, 2, 4, 13, 14 and 35," as amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 81 of said City, by herein amending certain subdivisions thereof and by adding certain other subdivisions, and to amend said Ordinance No. 48 by adding two new Sections to be known as Sections Nos. 10a and 10b respectively, and to repeal all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas do Ordain as Follows: Section 1. The following subdivisions of said Section 7 of said Ordinance No. 48 as amended by said Ordinance No. 81, are hereby amended so that the same shall read as follows: Amended: (6) For each newspaper and job printing establishment $15.00 per quarter. (7) For each shooting gallery $25.00 per quarter (l0) For each theatre and moving picture show $25.00 per quarter (14) For each telephone business $25.00 Per quarter (15) For each Electrical light business $25.00 per quarter (22) For each manufacturer of soda water, or other or any soft drinks $5.00 per quarter (24) For each blacksmith or general repair shop $5.00 per quarter (26) For each clothes cleaning shop $15.00 per quarter. For each tailoring establishment $5.00 per quarter. For each clothes cleaning shop and tailoring establishment combined $18.00 per quarter. (28) For each bootblack stand permitted by ordinance of the City $3.00 per quarter. (29) For each Hospital $15.00 per quarter. (30) For each gas manufacturing or gas distributing plant distributing to customers through a system of gas mains and gas distributing pipes laid in the streets and/or alleys $10.00 per quarter. (31) For each lawyer $5.00 per quarter (32) For each physician and/or surgeon $5.00 per quarter (33) For each dentist $5.00 per quarter (42) For every traveling merchant, hawker, peddler, or vendor, street fakir or advertiser, who advertises goods, wares or merchandise of any kind by music, singing or dancing jugglery, tricks, sleight of hand, buffoonery, gymnastics or any spectacular display, show or performance, or by speeches or oratory, or by any performance upon the streets calculated to draw a crowd of people about those calling or advertising wares as aforesaid shall pay a license in the sum of twenty-five dollars per day, and shall also secure a permit to occupy street space as required by other ordinances of the City. The following subdivisions are hereby added to said Section 7 of said Ordinance No. 48, namely: (47) For each skating rink at a fixed place of business $10.00 per quarter. (48) For each oculist $5.00 per quarter. (49) For each auctioneer $125.00 per quarter or fraction thereof. (50) For each architect $5.00 per quarter. (51) For each assayer $5.00 per quarter. (52) For each massage parlor $5.00 per quarter. (53) For each trade college, trade school, business school or business college where instructions are given in any trade or occupation, for which a fee is charged $10.00 per quarter. (54) For each public accountant $5.00 per quarter. (55) For each chiropodist $5.00 per quarter. (56) For each drugless practitioner, provided, however that this subdivision shall not apply to persons who treat the sick through prayer or spiritual means, $5.00 per quarter. (57) For each chiropractor $5.00 per quarter. (58) For Each osteopath $5.00 per quarter. (59) For each accountant $5.00 per quarter. (60) For each advertising business or advertising counsel $5.00 per quarter. (61) For each collection agency or mercantile agency $10.00 per quarter. (62) For each designer or decorator $5.00 per quarter. (63) For each building contractor $15.00 per quarter. (64) For each person, firm or corporation conducting, managing or carrying on the business of paving or macadamizing contractor $25.00 per quarter. (65) Any other contractor not specifically licensed by this or any other ordinance of the City of Las Vegas $12.50 per quarter. (66) For each cabinet shop, carpenter shop, or upholstery shop $5.00 per quarter. (67) For each nursery where plants, flowers, ferns, trees or other plants are cultivated, grown or propagated for the purpose of sale $3.00 per quarter. (68) Every person, firm or corporation conducting, managing or carrying on the business of an auto camp or tourist camp shall pay a quarterly license fee as follows: $5.00 per quarter from four to eight guest rooms inclusive; $7.50 per quarter from nine to eighteen guest rooms inclusive; $10.00 per quarter from nineteen to thirty quest room inclusive; $12.50 per quarter from thirty-one to fifty guest room inclusive; $15.00 per quarter from fifty-one to eighty guest rooms inclusive; $17.50 per quarter for those who have eighty-two guest rooms or over. For the purpose of this subdivision the words "auto camp" and "tourist camp" shall be construed as meaning by place where tents or cabins are rented to the general public.
