By PAT FIELDS Dress for all seasons in Civic Coliseum tonight; the Silver Anniversary Edition of Holiday On Ice runs the calendar gamut. Sunday's run-through looked great, in spots too good to be called a dress rehearsal, though there were plenty of cries from Director Donn Arden: "Cut! Cut! Whose fault was that?" and echoing from the lighting-! stations and two-way sound controls, "Did you press (stop) on his (Ronnie's) Pagliacci?" and "Okay, okay, okay!" when all went well. Holiday on Ice 1 miered its ninth which pre ^consecutive show at Civic Coliseum last night before a near-capacity audience of 4560, will return next year to put together a new show. Mayor Leonard Rogers, noting it is the 25th anniversary of the ice show as he officially wel- I corned the troupe at curtain time, said, "We hope they'll be with us for their 50th anniversary- "It's August, and this has gotten to be an annual affair. We look forward to their return each year," the mayor said. ?╟≤ The announcement that the I show would again premiere here next year was not made at the opening of the show as usual, because HOI President Morris Chalfen arrived only minutes before the show opened and the decision was not actually known to Mayor Rogers and Fred McCallum, manager of the Auditorium-Coliseum, at curtain time. The announcement was never made to the audience, but after the show, Mr, Chalfen huddled with local officials and said HOI would be back. The show is two hours and 15 minutes long, with a 20-minute intermission. It moves with a little more zip this year, with no time wasted betwen acts. One always wonders if the new show can better the pre- v i o u s year's production?╟÷it always seems to do so. The costumes are magnificent and the color out of this world. Continued on Page 2, Col. Just one little word of caution to the audience: Please, Mamas; and Papas, don't let your kids* out in the aisles during the Minnie Pearl (Paul Andre) and Colonel Sanders (Johnny Leech) number, unless they (the kids) have iron heads and don't mind losing them.
