Conduct of Candidates During the Carni Gras festivities on March 12, 1982, the band performing made numerous "political plugs" for Jon Galane, a candidate for Union Board Chairman. I personally heard two such announcements, and I was approached by several individuals who also heard similar announcements during the afternoon. The band is receiving $800 for their performance from CSUN, and I believe Jon Galane should reimburse CSUN for the services rendered by the band in his behalf. I request the Elections Board assign a fair market value to the services rendered in Mr. Galane's behalf, and that this value appear on his Campaign Spending and Contribution Statement in accordance with Article IV, Section A, Paragraph 1 of the CSUN Elections Rules. Also, I request Elections Board action in regards to the violation of Article IV, Section A, Paragraph 2 of the CSUN Elections Rules, whereas Jon Galane did not get this campus event which benefited him authorized by the Elections Board. I believe the actions taken by Candidate Galane and/or his workers were unethical due to the usage of student fees for his own benefit, and that these actions were obviously unfair to Candidate Lisa Meyers and myself. cc: CSUN Elections Board Dirk Ravenholt Rick Oshinski CSUN Senate Lisa Meyers Burt Teh Deb Garrett Dean Daniels Dave Gist UNLV Yell
