For some time the City of Las Vegas has been seeking to acquire certain easements covering property owned by the Las Vegas Land and Water Company* which property is to be sold to the Water District pursuant to the contract of sale for said property. It is my understanding from Mr. Campbell that the District has been served with a summons in a condemnation pro­ceeding brought by the City. Mr. Campbell has requested that I forward to you the various correspondence in connection with this matter* and advises me that you will represent the District in the matter. By letter of March 19, 1954, Mr. Bennett of Union Pacific has forwarded a proposed grant of easements by the Land and Water Company* which grant is proposed to be Joined in by the Water District. Enclosed herewith is a copy of Mr. Bennett*s letter of March 19th, together with a copy of the enclosure. We are also providing Mr. Montgomery with a copy of said letter of March 19* 1954* together with its enclosure* so that Mr. Montgomery may prepare hia recommendation to the District in connection with that matter.
