Las Vegas - March 22, 195^ W 23-1 - 1 2 5 ¥ 23-1-1^5 Mr. E. E. Bennett - Los Angeles In accordance with our conversation during your |8||| visit to Las Vegas, at which time we inspected in the field the portion of Oakey Boulevard lying in the southeasterly potion of the city, I am submitting herewith an outline of the conditions existing with respect to the extension of Oakey Boulevard water main, which you will discuss with Mr. Reinhardt. ¥e have a water distribution situation here in Las Vegas in the southeasterly portion of the city whioh is fast becoming serious and in my opinion must be h ^ d ledbytheWaterCompan yat the earliest possible moment, notwithstanding the Fading by the Water District and all of their propaganda as to their plans for taking over the Water Company in time to provide additional water through local wells and to make changes in the system to provide more pressure, etc. I understand the latest tentative date set by the District for taking over is June 1st, but I am fearful that this date will again be further extended and the Water Company will be to Provide water service through the coming summer. However, notwithstanding the District’s plans, this situation is urgent and must be handled3 * 8 * quioklyby the wlter Company if we are to avoid serious criticism by the public in the immediate future. The following data is submitted! 1. Map dated March 22, 195^, showing outline of existing water system in the southeasterly portion of the city which has been colored to show location and size of various water mains. 2. Entire area of city easterly 0£15th Street is presently served through a single 8 water main in Charleston Boulevard at point D. This line provided adequate service through last summer with only minor complaints, but the development of this area ***• J;11: creased to such an extent that the water situation is rapidly developing into a serious pfCblem. We already receiving complaints of low pressure, and the amount of water and pressure available for fire fighting purposes Is not what it should be. 3. Application was made by Mr. F. W. Cochran for Morning View Heights June 20, 1953. *L water main from 15th Street to Power Line Right of Way between points A and B on basis of Water Company construction under deposit by Subdivider. This application was processed through the District and Water Company, and Work Order 7^5 was issued.
