RICHARD LOCHRIE, being first duly sworn, deposes and says: That he is Foreman of the LAS VEGAS MORNING SUN, a daily newspaper of general circulation, printed and published at Las Vegas, in the County of Clark, State of Nevada, and that the attached was continuously published in said newspaper for a period of one week from November 7, 1955 to November 13, 1955 inclusive, being the issues of said newspaper for the following dates, to-wit: November 7,8,9,10,11,12,13, 1955. GREENSPUN Notary Public In and For Clark County, Nevada My Commission Expires Mar. 17, 1956 ORDINANCE NO. 701 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS TO PROVIDE FOR THE SERVICE OF LETTERS AND NOTICES BY CERTIFIED MAIL IN LIEU OF REGISTERED MAIL; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. WHEREAS, certain ordinances of the City of Las Vegas provide that letters and notices shall be sent by registered mail; and WHEREAS* the post office department of the United States has inaugurated a new service whereby mail may be sent "certified”, which in most instances serves the same purpose as sending registered mail; and WHEREAS* the costs of the City in sending registered mail has increased tremendously; and WHEREAS* a considerable saving to the City of Las Vegas and the taxpayers thereof will result in the use of certified mail, rather than registered mail, NOW, THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Whenever any of the Ordinances of the City of Las Vegas, or the service of any notices required in the government of the City of Las Vegas require service by registered mail, the department head or the individual department concerned, may, in lieu of sending such letter or notice by "registered mail", send the same by "certified mail", under such rules and regulations as may be adopted by the United States Post Office Department from time to time. SECTION 2. This ordinance is not intended to be mandatory on such department heads and is not intended to repeal those ordinances which provide for service by registered mail wherein any statutes of the State of Nevada, or Charter provision of the City of Las Vegas, provides for service by registered mail. SECTION 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its final reading and adoption, and final publication as in the next section provided. SECTION 5. The City Clerk and Clerk of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas shall cause this ordinance to be published once a week for two successive weeks immediately following its first reading and adoption in the Las Vegas Review Journal, a daily newspaper published in the City of Las Vegas.
