    PEND* V Los ingeles^ Jpetu 19,193^9 $Lle 6 1 3 \0 SM' ti • ••Pacific Sewer Pipe Company- Sewer Pipe pwrchased and installed at Las vegas® a * « ms* i. h . fqseer* Referring to your letter of October 30th.• quoting letter you had received from the Pacific Sewer Pipe Company concerning the vitrified pipe they sold, us for use at Las Vegasj Since receipt of your letted 4000 ft* of this pipe line extending Westward from the water tank Jx&s been replaced vdth wood line, leaving 5000 ft* of the vitrified ela/ pipe in service between the Spring and the connection with the rood line® Shis line has now been in service something over two months and so far no failure has resulted® We, therefore, think it safe to assume this 5000 ft* will remain in service, the balance of the clay pipe to be abandoned* I now think we should test a number of Joints of clay pipe to determine if it would stand a hydrostatic pressure of 30#* Should the pipe fail to stand the test than I think the Pipe Company should make good the entire cost of the line abandoned* If you will advise the Pipe ’ OoBipary that we are now ready to make test I will instruct one of my Assistant Engineers to arrange the detail.
