More than 800,000 bulbs and lights of all descriptions have been used to illuminate and decorate the 15 acres of buildings and installations on the Sands grounds and also in the lavish Copa Room where the floorshows are presented. In the 36 months of operation, a total of 286,000 peices of dice have been used in the Sands Casino, at a cost of $1.25 per pair which last on the average about 6 hours and 20 minutes, and which have been used for an aggregate total of 52,100,000 throws by casino customers. More than 65,200 decks of expensive cards have been used in the three years of casino operation, for a total figure of 1,946,000 individual cards being handled by customers for an average span of life of 3 hours, 25 minutes. Some 56,000 decks of used cards have been distributed by the Sands to 122 different hospitals, institutions, veterans centers and Army and Navy bsses in 12 countries, with postage and mailing costs figured at about $6,200# Into local Las Vegas municipal and Clark County coffers, the Sands has paid $1,215,000 in licenses and gaming-machine permits only.
