m It a a Vegas - June 15 th, 1935, W 23-3-5 £ 1 1 2 Hon* 1* 1* Arnett, Mayor of la s V^gas, Las V^gas, Heva&a, Bean 3ir I Your attention is re sp e c tfu lly invited to the water situation in I»as Vegas* which is rapidly becoming acute* due to the excessive waste of water which is being permitted to run into the streets* Boring the past two or three years, we have been continually receiving complaints from water consumers about their neighbors permitting water to run over a long period of time* flooding their streets and a lle y s and causing deterioration of th eir street paving, as well as f i l l i n g ditches at street crossings f i l l of water, splashing on ears and causing a hazard to pedestrians* Inasmuch as the water is sold to the people of la s Vegas on a f la t rate, we have found It is of no av ail to make request on the parties who cause these coxnplaints, gjjgg la s t year the ®ity Commission passed an ordinance to prohibit waste of water and to regulate sprinkling* However, as the Sumer progresses, th is situation changes to the extent that instead of this waste of water being a nuisance, i t becomes a serious menace to Jt the water supply of the c ity , and immediate action should be taken to conserve the supply of water* We are now taking out about one foot per day fro® the reservo ir, and with at le a st two or three more months of hot weather before us, I respectfu lly request that you and the ° it y Commissioners pass an ordinance to prohibit th is unnecessary waste of water during the hot
