Commissioner Bunker moved the application of James Snowden to transfer the package liquor license of Jimmie's Liquor Store from 1400 North E to 607 Van Buren be held in abeyance. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Whipple. Ah ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND IMPOSING LICENSE TAXES FOR REVENUE UPON HOTELS AND MOTELS AND UPON GAMING; AUTHORIZING THE COLLECTION OF SUCH LICENSE TAXES; PRESCRIBING OTHER DETAILS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Fountain and Sharp for recommendation. Commissioner Sharp moved the motion revoking the license of the El Rio Club be rescinded. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Whipple. Commissioner Sharp moved the gaming license of the El Rio Club be suspended for a period of fifteen days beginning at 8:00 A.M. on December 20,1956. City Attorney Cannon advised the Commission that he had a man from his office checking the signs of the motels, and it was found that out of 56 signs, only 22 were not in violation because they did not have signs.
