    Mr. F. E. Pettit, Jr: Your letter August 14th transmitting copy of Mr. F. R. McNamee's letter to Mr. Halsted August I3th in connection with applications of the Railroad Company and Las Vegas Land and Water Company to appropriate waters of the artesian wall near Big Springs at Las Vegas, Nev., I should be glad to Mr. McNamee arrange to have these applications filed promptly. Mr. Maguire calls attention to the third paragraph of suggests that steps be taken to put on a control valve so as to avoid waste of water from this well. Mr. Maguire expresses the opinion that he does not think it advisable to attempt to control the flow of water fron this well, and suggests that steps Should be taken to improve the land which we own at Las Vegas and use thereon for irrigation the surplus water Mr. W.
