    f \ -Ijif r u l e s .a h l r e g u l a t i o n s f o r d r i l l i n g WELLS STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS The state law requires that every person, firm, copartnership , association vr corporation before engaging in the drilling of water wells after July 1, 1947, for compensation or otherwise, upon land other .than his own, must make application and obtain a well drill­e r ’s license from the state engineer. Applications for well drill­ers* license shall be made oh forms prescribed by the state engi­neer. All licenses expire on the 30th day of June following the issuance thereof and are not transferable* Licenses may be revoked by the state engineer if it appears after an investigation and hearing that the well driller has failed to comply with the law and the rules and regulations. Any well driller as defined in the act who drills a well in violation of the rules and regulations ana the state law, shall be guilty of a misde<- meanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not less than *50 nor more than *500 or by imprisonment in the county jail, not exceeding six months, or by both such fine and im­prisonment , It is mandatory that the well driller keep a log of the depth, thickness and character of the different strata penetrated and the location of water-bearing strata together with other data set forth in Sec, 7a of the underground water law. The log must be signed by , % I
