I agree.(2) the needs of the city, but to furnish adequate pressures for domestic service and for fire protection to the rapidly expanding southerly and easterly portions of the city it is necessary to provide.a new water main feeding the southerly portion of the distribution system. It is not practical to extend this new main from the existing reservoir, and to accomplish the purpose it is proposed to construct a new settling basin and reservoir, diverting water from several of the wells thereto* constructing booster pumps at the reservoir, and constructing 10,480 ft. of 24* water main from the reservoir to a connection with the present distribution system at its southerly extremity, all in location as indicated upon the attached print and Involving an expenditure of $203,840. We consider this project essential to protect the wartime demands of this community. As of June 1, 1945, payroll of the various industries was 1,842, an increase of 808 over February 1 of the same year. We have asked Hr. Bracken to secure payroll data as of July 1, which will be furnished you by wire. Frank Strong
