NEW BUSINESS A. Action Item: Nomination/Election of one (1) Publications Director for the term ending April 30, 2003. VICE PRESIDENT HALE moved to open nominations seconded by SENATE POWELL. VICE PRESIDENT HALE nominated Michael Swecker, seconded by SENATE PRESIDENT POWELL. VICE PRESIDENT HALE: Though this interview went well; I think because of his lack of experience with the software and the computing required in creating the magazine. I think that we should go with a candidate that has more experience in that area. SENATE PRESIDENT POWELL: This job is not going to leave room to learn on the job. We should go with someone who has experience for this job. PRESIDENT MORADKHAN: That is what made the publication successful last semester. Everyone was amazed that we had an issue out the first semester so we are in agreement. VICE PRESIDENT HALE nominated Mitchell Stapelton, seconded by SENATE PRESIDENT POWELL. VICE PRESIDENT HALE: I think that this candidate is extremely qualified for this position. He is the most qualified, and has vast experience with all of the software involved. He played an integral part in the completion of the "Vagus Nerve." PRESIDENT MORADKHAN: I definitely agree with VICE PRESIDENT HALE. MOVE INTO A VOTE: Motion passes 3-0-0. VICE PRESIDENT HALE nominated Ben Saiken, seconded by SENATE PRESIDENT POWELL. 2 VICE PRESIDENT HALE: He is also inexperience with the software, and I feel that since there is only one semester remaining there is no time train to someone who is inexperience. MOVE INTO A VOTE: Motion fails 0-2-l(SENATE PRESIDENT POWELL abstained). MITCHELL STAPLETON receives the nomination as CSUN Publications Director by UNANIMOUS ACCLIMATION and will be forwarded to the Senate. IX. OPEN DISCUSSION PRESIDENT MORADKHAN: Some general announcements: There will be another E-board meeting on Monday at 4:00 PM. The Board of Regents will be meeting next week at CCSN- West Charleston Campus, and if you are available please attend the March meeting which will be held during Spring Break, we need to show a lot of student support during that meeting, and I need the support as well. It will be nice to have a Publications Director and welcome back to school! VICE PRESIDENT HALE: As you may know, there have been issues with a certain director, I addressed those issues with him, and after we spoke there should be no more of these issues in the future. We need to give him one or two weeks to take care of these things. SENATE PRESIDENT POWELL: We need to make sure that all of our submissions get in Monday after the Senate meeting and Tuesday by 5:00, because we were here for nine hours doing this week's agenda, because everything came in last minute. It was a mess, and we had to do a supplemental on top of that as well. VICE PRESIDENT HALE: Part of that was we didn't have school Monday SENATE PRESIDENT POWELL: I understand, which is why I was lenient this week, but in the future, I will not tolerate such things. VICE PRESIDENT HALE: For your information, I'll be sending a memo to the directors that all their submissions will be due to me by 12:00 from now on. If you receive items that haven't come from me, let me know. SENATE PRESIDENT POWELL: I have discussed this with my Pro-Temp and my secretary, and they know that all items must come to me directly. If the directors and senators have any problems with this deadline send them to me directly. My secretary's available days are limited to Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday so this is imperative; she's done a great job so far. 3 PRESIDENT MORADKHAN: Please have your secretary communicate with the administrative a ssistant more, b ecause t he i tems n eed torn atch u p f or E -Board and Senate.
