Dear Sir: Referring to your letter of 21st instant respecting appropriations 900 and 1183. The work authorised under appropriation Do: 1183 has "been completed. As regards appropriation Do: 900: It is my understanding that the Special Committee does not desire to have this work performed for some time to come and inagb uch as the contractor^on whoso tender the estimates supporting the appropriation is based,has since increased his prices considerably,I would suggest that the appropriation! be cancelled.
