You w i l l r e c a l l that in the o r ig in a l a p p lic a tio n , we had a c u t -o f f date fo r new extensions as o f August 15th and the c u t -o f f date fo r new connections was September 1 st. a c e rta in amount o f p u b lic it y which was h e lp fu l in that the newspapers and the rad io talk ed about the growth o f the City o f Las Vegas becoming s t a t ic in the event our a p p lic a tio n was granted. Except fo r the i n i t i a l ou tbu rst, I have seen nothing in the papers since although Mr. B u t t e r fie ld to ld me that he would try to have the Chamber o f Commerce take some o f f i c i a l reco gn itio n o f our a p p lic a tio n and try to impress upon the c it iz e n s the n ecessity o f savin g w ater. Meanwhile, the City has f i l e d a p ro te st a g a in st our a p p lic a tio n , p a r t ic u la r ly a g a in st the request f o r the gran tin g o f the a p p lic a tio n ex p a rte , in s is t in g that a h earin g be h eld and that we be re q u ire d to su bstan tiate the a l l e g ­a tio n s o f the a p p lic a tio n . As we d iscu ssed , b e fo re you l e f t , I am intending to f i l e an amendment to the a p p lic a tio n extending the two c u t - o f f dates. The question a r is e s as to whether we should extend the c u t -o ff date f o r new extensions to September 1st o r September 15th and the c u t -o ff date fo r new connections to September 15th o r October 1 st.
