Dear Sir:- I beg to acknowledge receipt of your valued favor of the 27th ult. contents carefully noted, which refers particularly to your work of running out the lines of the ranch. Am glad to|jkear that you are getting along nicely, and hope you-will wind it up soon. I received a letter from. McWilliams making proposition to look after the ranch. As you said in your letter received ©bout the same time I do not believe he is the man.. He also spoke , about a great many im­provements that would be required;, suggested,fencing the entire ranch, also needed a good many tools, etc., if we are going to farm on £, big scale. In reply, beg to >8ay that I do not think v.e should go to any extraordinary expense in fencing’the ranch Just at present as it is very expensive (getting materiel by wagon and I presume we could get along v-ith the present fence until such time as the road is. completed to that point, or near,at least, when we eouia. get. our wire ard tools very, much cheaper. I did not have a great, of talk with my brother in regard to the ranch, or what he would like us to do ;V;ith it and will not consent to making any extraordinary i. -provements until I hear from him. He-will be’ back to Hew York about 'the 15th and I will submit.the-whole matter to mm and as khim- t| thinks in regard to it.
