OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS THOMAS A CAMPBELL PRESIDENT SPENCER L BUTTERFIELD LlAS VEGAS VALLEY WATER DISTRICT VICE PRESIDENT WILLIAM COULTHARD 900 SOUTH 5TH STREET SECY -TREAS LAS VEGAS, NEVADA HARRY E MILLER JAMES CASHMAN TELEPHONE 5920 JOHN BUNCH September 21, 1933 Resort Hotel Committee Las Vegas Nevada Gentlemen: Reports have been received by Directors of this District that a rumor has been disseminated to the effect that this District, In the event the water bonds are voted on September 30, might make an attempt to cap the existing wells In the Strip area. This rumor is definitely false. Control of all wells, as you no doubt know, lies entirely and exclusively with the State of Nevada, and falls under the duties of the State Engineer, Mr. Hugh Shamberger. Therefore, we wish to advise you that the District has no such authority; nor does the District have any plan or intention to cap, or otherwise restrict or curtail the flow of any of the wells in the Strip area. Furthermore, we wish to Inform you that in the event the water bonds are passed on September 30, part of the District's plan calls for the construction of a 13 inch water main out Highway 91 to the Flamingo Hotel, which would be available to serve anyone in the Strip area desiring such service. Should any of your group, individually or collectively, have any questions concerning this matter, please call upon us for clarification. In the latter connection, Mr. Hugh Shamberger, the State Engineer, will be in Las Vegas for a week commencing Tuesday, September 22, 1953. He has authorized the District to state that he will be available to meet with any group for the purpose of discussing all points, and to answer questions in connection with this vital issue. We are enclosing herewith a diagram which shows the proposed construction and improvements to the existing facilities, wherein you will note the 15 inch main which extends to the Flamingo Hotel. Very truly yours, LAS VEGAS VALLEY WATER DISTRICT by Thomas A. Campbell TAC:pl President
