( C O P Y ) AIR MAIL-SPECIAL Los Angeles, California April 5, 1954 Las Vegas Valley Water District 900 South Fifth Street Las Vegas, Nevada Attention? Mr. Thomas A. Campbell, President Dear Mr. Campbell? I have your letter of April 1st, directing my attention to certain statements contained in letter from James M. Montgomery, dated March 23, 1954, relative to temporarily increasing the water supply to the City of Las Vegas for the coming summer in view of the impossibility of the District developing new sources of supply In time for the coming season of high water demand. As you know, for many years the Water Company has spent considerable money in endeavoring to increase the present water supply, cleaning out and improving the production of existing wells insofar as possible, and installing larger pumps on most of the wells. This work has now reached the limit of its possibilities, and we know of no other development which can be undertaken that would result in the Increase in water supply asked for in your letter. It is obvious from the statements of Mr. Montgomery that he has made a study of this situation and has developed a plan for increasing the water supply for the coming summer season. If he will submit such a plan to us, showing in detail just what he recom mends, and the cost thereof, based on his engineering experience or tentative bids from contractors, we will be very glad to give the matter our early consideration. Yours very truly, (Signed) Wm. Reinhardt cc-Mr. James M. Montgomery 15 No. Oakland Ave., Pasadena 1, California E. E. Bennett-Los Angeles
