Soror Lynette Boggs McDonald was among the 100 black political, business and religious leaders who had lunch with President Bush at the White House on Friday, February 28, 2003. Soror Lynette reported that as part of Black History Month, the President “wanted to engage in serious dialogue with the African - American community. Soror Lynette plans to with Republican National Committee Chairman Marc Racicot to discuss her future political endeavors which may include her challenging U.S. Senator, Harry Reid Democrat - Nevada in 2004.
Soror Kaweeda Adams’s Honey Do, Eric Adams was selected as the 2003 National Small Business Man of the Year from Nevada. He was also selected as the Honorary Co-Chair of the National Business Advisory Council. He will be making a trip to Washington, D.C. in March, 2003 to receive his leadership award.
Well Wishes: Soror Berna Rhodes-Ford and her family are moving to Texas in May.
Soror Rhoda Anderson has relocated to Dallas, Texas. Good Luck, Sorors.

THE ARRIVAL OF THE STORK: Soror Dominic and Honey Do Jerome Calloway on the birth of their daughter, Dorian Lavonne Louise Calloway, bom on August 17, 2003.
Soror E. Lavonne Lewis welcomed her first grandson, Brady Lewis, who parents, Gordon and Cara Lewis of Phoenix, Arizona.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Soror Ina Dorman and Clair Hart completed their Doctoral Studies at Nova University. Soror Kenyatta Neal- Johnson completed the Masters Program in Marriage Family Therapy. Soror Debra Toney is in the final stages of completing Doctoral studies in Nursing. Soror Belissa Brownlee is beginning her final year of law school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Soror Rhoda Anderson has completed a training program with Cox Communication in the field of technology. Soror Willa White was a presenter at the Graduate Advisors Institue during the Alpha Kappa Alpha Leadership Seminar. Soror Quin Rivers received a scholarship and attended a workshop at the Maria Benitez Spanish Dance Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico to study Flamenco.(Spanish Dance).
HUMANITARIANS: Soror Sandra Stewart- Bass extended her philanthropic efforts by providing a scholarship for the graduating AKA Teen with the highest GPA at the AKA Teen Soiree, Candace Hatcher, daughter of Soror, Dorothy Hatcher.
Soror Diane Pollard, President of the Anthony Pollard Foundation, celebrated the Foundation’s summer reading camp at Kit Carson Elementary School. The Foundation also sponsors the Rainbow of Dreams Scholarship.
CONGRATULATIONS: Soror Lynette Boggs- Me Donald was appointed to the Board of Directors for Station Casinos. Soror Dorothy Johnson was honored by The Links, Inc. and the Elks Lodge for her work with the National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer. Soror Jacqulyn Shropshire was awarded the Community Service Award by the Urban Chamber. Soror Sharon Savage was selected to participate in the Clark County Leadership Training Program. Soror Betty Bell was awarded the Rose Award by the Professional Black Women’s Alliance.
FAREWELL: Soror Dawn Barnes moved to a new teaching position in Prince Georges County, Maryland.
WELCOME: Soror Constance Burrell has reactivated with Theta Theta Omega Chapter.
Get Well Wishes: Sorors that are under the weather. Soror Thais Baccus
had a surgical procedure on September 5, 2003, to enable her to have the Dialysis in her home.
Soror Elizabeth Sheffield was hospitalized this summer and is now home recuperating.
Soror Verlia Hoggard has recuperated from heart surgery. Soror Donnyss Rucker had some health problems this summer. Soror Barbara McCants-Hill has recuperated from knee surgery.
SYMPATHY: Many of our Sorors loss loved ones over the summer.
Soror Darlene Hancock’s niece, Florence Monk, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and her sister- in-law, Dr. Maudrie Saunders, of Wash. D.C. Dr. Saunders was also a Soror.. Soror Gwen Bartlett Gates loss her uncle, Elmer Cage Johnson of California. Soror Winnie Pettis loss her niece, Vicky Parham of Las Vegas, and Soror Jackie Shropshire loss her husband, Thomas

Soror Sandy Stafford became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at approximately 2:00p.m. The Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony will be held Saturday, October 25, 2003 at l:30p.m at Christ Church Episcopal located at 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, Nevada. The funeral services are scheduled for 2:30p.m.
Get Well Wishes: Sorors that are under the weather, Soror Thais Baccus is still recuperating from dialysis. Also Soror Verlia Hoggard has been under the weather and Soror Gwendolyn-Barlett Gates was hospitalized shortly after returning to Las Vegas. At this time, she is home recuperating..
The Freaky Night Halloween Party is Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at the Cambridge Recreation Center, 3930 Cambridge Street, Las Vegas, Nevada 89119 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30pm.. We would like our Sorors to demonstrate their support by attending this venture. We will have a booth which will be decorated and will pass out Halloween treats. Sorors please make an effort to come. I believe this is a great way to demonstrate to the community our community involvement. Radio Stations will be present as well as other organizations are sponsoring activities and prizes.
Christmas Party for Theta Theta Omega which will be held on December 6, 2003, following our regular meeting. The December Hostess decided to have the Christmas Party catered. We will ask Sorors at the November meeting to pay $10.00 to cover the cost of the food. Soror Barbara thought up the idea of decorating tables in a Holiday Theme. We also discussed the probability of the December Hostesses hosting for January, 2004, since everyone has to make monetary contribution for the Christmas Party.
The Hospitality Committee met on September 14, 2003 at the home of Soror Quin Rivers. During that meeting the issue of maybe providing only water or trailmix or peanuts to the meetings. Many people feel the food that is served is not a healthy diet.
We also discussed the issues and problems regarding Secret Soror. There are a number of Sorors who sign up and do not participate. Most Sorors expect a gift every month. I am suggesting that maybe Secret Sorors exchange gifts only for the holidays eg: . Valentine Day, Easter, Mother s Day, and Christmas. Also another way is to have a grab bag gifts. Everyone bring a gift when they come to the meeting and exchange your gift with another Soror.

STORK: Congratulations to Soror Amanda and Honey Do Derick McWilliams on the arrival of their son, Brayden Seth McWilliams who was bom on Novemberl2, 2003, weighing 71bs. 12 ozs and 20.5.
Sympathies: Our sympathy and prayers were extended to Sorors Debra Toney and Diane Pollard in the passing of their father, Leon Hughes on Monday, October 20, 2003 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hughes, Pollard and Toney families. In addition, Dr. Oliver Stripling of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, brother of Soror Darlene Hancock, passed away on October 28, 2003. Soror Hancock has traveled to Oklahoma City for the service, which is tentatively set for November 1, 2003, our prayers and thoughts are with her and her family as well.

Our Regional Director, Soror Diana Shipley youngest brother, Dr. Raydell Bradley passed away November 28, 2003 in Tacoma, Washington. The Memorial Service will be held on December 13, 2003, at 11:00 am at First Christian Church in Macon, Missouri. Soror LaFrances Dancy’s father, Frank Dancy, passed away in Oakland, California. The services are private and will be held on Monday, December 8, 2003 at CP Bannon Mortuary.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of our Sorors and their families.
SISTERLY RELATIONS: A poll was taken at the last Sorority meeting regarding Secret Soror or introduction of something new for the forthcoming year. Sixty two members were present at the meeting, Thirty Sorors voted and twenty eight were abstinent. The results of the voting are as followed: Secret Sorors will continue and exchanging gifts only on special occasions e.g. Valentine Day, Easter, and Christmas. Many Sorors were in agreement of the members who would like to participate will pull names to exchange gifts for Christmas.
