Sheet No. 551-692-E R U L E A N D REGULA T I O N No. 20 ELE C T R I C EXTENSIONS Ex t e n s i o n s of lines of a voltage of 16,500 volts or less, necessary to supply b o n a fide applicants for service of a permanent and established character, will n o r m a l l y b e made b y the Company, entirely or partially, at its own expense, in accordance with the following rules: (A) F ree Extensions. 1. The Company will furnish and install at its own expense, all neces s a r y m e t e r s an d transformers and in the case of lighting service will furnish service drops. The Company will also construct at its o wn expense the following length of line: E o r each lighting c o n s u m e r ......... .. ................................ 250 feet F o r each refrigerator c o n s u m e r .......... ............................ 200 feet ? F o r each k i lowatt of h e a t i n g or cooking l o a d ........................... 125 feet **For each h o r s epower load in installations of less than 5 HP. . . 200 feet F o r each horsepower of power load in installations of 5 HP or over ....................... ................................ * 250 feet ?This length of line will not b e constructed for air or space h e a t i n g load when served u n d e r Schedule LC D - 2 (Zones A, B or C), Special Condition (b) a n d Schedule LCD-1 (Beverly Hills, S a n t a M o n i c a and Long Beach). **Extension will not b e made for installations of less than 5 H P where serv i c e u n d e r Schedule P - 2 (Zones A,B or C), Intermittent Service, is d e s i r e d f rom 11,500 or 16,500 volt lines. 2. U n d e r this rule, the Company will b u i l d lines o n l y along public roads an d h i ghways and u p o n private p r o p e r t y across which satisfactory rights-of-w a y m a y be obt a i n e d without cost to the Company. Lines u p o n private p r o p e r t y across which the Company cannot obtain a right-of-way u n d e r satisfactory conditions m ust b e built, owned and m a i n t a i n e d b y the consumer and constructed so as to conform to the effective rules for overhead line c o n struction issued b y the Califo r n i a R a i l r o a d Commission. 3. The length of line required for a n extension will b e considered as the distance from the nearest distribution pole an d along the shortest practical route to the point where connection is made to the c o n s u m e r ’s facilities, except that in the case of lighting service, service drops will not b e c onsidered as a p a r t of the extension- (B) E x t e nsions B e y o n d Free Length. 1. E x t e nsions o f lines of a length greater than p r ovided u n d e r Section A- l above, will be built, o w n e d a n d m a i n t a i n e d b y the Company, prov i d i n g the applicant or applicants for service advance to the Company twenty-five (25) cents for each foot in excess o f the free length specified in Section A-l. 2.
