MONDAY, OCTOBER 10TH & TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11TH QUALIFYING MATCHES?╟÷GRAND BALLROOM 12:00 Noon to 6:00 PM WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12TH KNOCKOUT MATCHES FOR FINALISTS CONSOLATION MATCHES FOR NON-FINALISTS GRAND BALLROOM 12:00 Noon to 6:00 PM THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13TH THE LAST MATCH OR THE LAST TWO MATCHES WILL BE PLAYED THIS DAY. GRAND BALLROOM 12:00 Noon to end of last match. Prizes INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT 1st Prize................ . . .$10,000 2nd Prize .................. 4,000 3rd & 4th Prizes (each)..... 1,500 CONSOLATION TOURNAMENT All entrants except those who qualify for knockout matches are eligible to play. The idea is to give you another try at prize money if you were unsuccessful in the main tournament. 1st Prize.....................$1,500 2nd Prize....................... 750 3rd & 4th Prizes (each)........ 375 SWEEPSTAKES AWARD All pairs who purchase an optional Sweep- stakes Award ticket for $100 (per pair) are eligible for these cash prizes: 1st Prize......................80% 2nd Prize......................40% 3rd & 4th Prizes (each).........20% 5th thru 8th Prizes (each) . ..10% The total is 200%! The Sands Hotel will match the entire Sweepstakes Award Pool, thus doubling the amount each pair would otherwise win. If 150 pairs enter the Sweepstakes, putting up $100 each for a total of $15,000?╟÷the Sands will put up an additional $15,000. First prize will, in that case, be $ 12,000?╟÷in addition, of course, to the guaranteed prize ($10,000 for first place, etc.) SCHEDULE OF FEES Entry (per pair) ..............$100 Sweepstakes Ticket (per pair) . . . .$100 Entry fees may be paid in advance or upon arrival. Rules / Regulations Only guests of the Sands Hotel are eligi- ble to compete. All entries are subject to approval by the Director and Tourna- ment Judge. mr. Alfred sheinwold, interna- tionally recognized authority on Con- tract Bridge and syndicated writer for 400 newspapers all over the world, will be the official judge of the First Annual International Bridge Tour- nament. All decisions made by Mr. Sheinwold are final and binding upon all players and actions in the Tournament. The International Laws of Contract Bridge apply. Only rubber bridge will be played. A pair may play at most three non- standard bidding conventions. ?╟úStandard?╟Ñ bidding conventions will be posted on the walls and described in a special booklet given to each contestant.
