Student Union, Room 208 C NOTE: Below is an agenda of all items scheduled to be considered. Various items are listed as action items on the following agenda. PUBLIC COMMENT INFORMATION Public Comment will be taken during this agenda item. No action may be taken on a matter raised under this item until the matter is included on an agenda as an item on which action may be taken. The Chairman may place reasonable limitations as to the amount of time individuals may address the Senate. UNFINISHED BUSINESS INFORMATION/ACTION A. Action Item: Approval of one (1) executive board nominee to serve as justice for a two year term beginning on date of appointment. As submitted by Senate President Espinoza on behalf of Chief Justice Cianci SENATOR CALLAGHAN MOVES TO POSTPONE TILL SENATE MEETING 37-14 SENATOR TURUNC SECONDS 22-0-0 IX. NEW BUSINESS INFORMATION/ ACTION A. Information Item: Discussion of the USSA conference presented by the CSUN chosen delegation. As submitted by Senate President Espinoza. SENATOR BRUST MOVES TO ACTION ITEMS E AND F SENATOR HOOSHMAND 22-0-0 SENATOR CALLAGHAN MOVES TO DISCUSS SENATOR HOOSHMAND SECONDS B. Action Item: Approval of a Co-Sponsorship, adequate marketing and of an amount not to exceed $10,000 to be paid to the Women Studies Department for a lecture by Dolores Huerta who is the most prominent Chicana labor leader in the United States. After the lecture students will be able to attend a reception where they will be able to meet and greet Dolores Huerta. Cost to be encumbered as follows: $8,000 from CSUN 2702 FY07 Senate Discretionary budget and $2,000 from the CSUN 2702 FY07 NSA budget. As submitted by Senator Turunc and Senator Jimenez. SENATOR JIMENEZ MOTIONS TO MOVE OUT OF THE ORDER OF THE DAY SENATOR CALLAGHAN SECONDS SENATOR TURUNC MOVES TO APPROVE SENATOR HOOSHMAND SECONDS SENATOR TURUNC MOVES TO AMEND STRICKING 10000 AND INSERTING 8000, STRICKING 8000 AND INSERTING 5100, AND ADDING AFTER NSA BUDGET, AND $900 FROM THE CSUN 2702 FY07 OUT-OF-STATE TRAVEL ACCOUNT SENATOR BOYNTON SECONDS 2 2 - 0 - 0 ACTION ITEM IS APPROVED C. Information Item: Discussion of what occurred at the Spring 2007 Tunnel of Oppression. Students would like to address the senate about the incident that effected many students. As submitted by Senator Jimenez SENATOR JIMENEZ MOVES TO DISCUSS SENATOR CALLAGHAN SECONDS SAMANTHA WAS THE CHAIR OF THE CENSORSHIP COMMITTEE AND CENSURSHDP ROOM IN THE TUNNEL OF OPPRESSION. UNLV STAFF TOR DOWN D. Action Item: Approval of an amount not to exceed $900 and adequate marketing to be allocated for a collaborated event between CSUN, Young Democrats and the College Republicans. The event will be a formal debate in which various issues will be discussed. Cost to be encumbered from CSUN 2702 FY07 Out-of-State Travel account. As submitted by Senator Turunc and Senator Jimenez. SENATOR MOVES TO POSTPONE TILL SENATE MEETING 37-14 SENATOR CALLAGHAN SECONDS E. Action Item: Approval of the following directives to Campus Life Directorship; To promote and direct an event(s) such as a tailgate in order to expose women athletic programs such as the softball team to UNLV students. Such event(s) must take place in the anticipation of the UNLV softball games on April 21 and 22 vs. San Diego State and or the UNLV softball game on April 27 vs. Colorado State and or the UNLV softball games on April 28 and 29 vs. New Mexico. As submitted by Senator Turunc and Senator Jimenez SENATOR JIMENES MOVES TO APPROVE ACTION ITEMS E AND F OF NEW BUSINESS. SENATOR BRUST SECONDS SENATOR JIMENEZ MOVES TO AMEND ACTION ITEM F STRICKING 4000 AND INSERTING 5000, STRICKING 1000 AND INSERTING 2000 22-0-0 F. Action Item: Approval of an amount not to exceed $5,000 to pay for the tailgate(s) and T-shirts and other promotions at the remainder of the UNLV softball games. Cost to be encumbered as follows: $2,000 from the CSUN 2702 FY07 Campus Life, Rebel Road Trip budget and $1,000 from the CSUN 2702 FY07 Marketing, Sports Marketing budget and $2,000 from the CSUN 2702 FY07 Senate (discretionary) budget. As submitted by Senator Turunc Senator Jimenez. ITEM IS APPROVED SEE ACTION ITEM G. Action Item: Approval of an amount not to exceed $5,000 for Midnight Breakfast.
