Mr. Calvin M. Cory 2. December 26, 1951 lowering of the water tables and reduction in pressure. hAt an earlier hearing he gave some testimony with respect I to the effect on adjacent wells when the wells on the I strip were put on the pump, it being my recollection that he testified that when such wells were heavily pumped, the smaller wells within a radius of a mile tended to dry up. I should like some testimony along that line-in the pend1ng application to counteract any testimony of the City that we could either drill more wells or put pumps on the present wells and produce more water. Also I should like to have you discuss with Mr. Johnson the possibility of his testifying with respect to the effect of the three new pumps we installed at Las Vegas on the adjacent wells, it being my contention that those wells 'could be pumped for a few hours at the most and after that time the production from the other wells decreased. So far as I know now this case will go to trial and I want to build up as strong a case as possible. X also want to have all necessary testimony to refute any allegations of the City, which I am sure they will introduce, that we could increase the water supply by either drilling new wells or installing new pumps. I am willing to admit that there would be a temporary increase, but Mr. Jameson will probably tell you that the final result would be a further lowering of the water table and a decrease in the production of other wells. I doubt if I shall be able to get out to Las Vegas prior to the morning of the 21st, at which time X hope to have a conference with you and the various witnesses with respect to the introduction of testimony on the 22nd. It will be up to you to line up all of the testi mony to be introduced at the hearing. I assume you are keeping in mind the desirability of testimony by Mr, Johnson with respect to the number of new connections made in 1950# in 1951 and the number of new connections which will result in 1952 based on present applications for extensions of mains.
