SOROR BOLDEN SUGGESTED WE BRING A GIFT TO OUR DECEMBER MEETING, AND EXCHANGE GIFTS WITH THOSE WHO BROUGHT GIFTS, RATHER THAN HAVING SOME SORORS NOT RECEIVE A GIFT.     Minutes - April 4, 1992
    The meeting was called to order by the Basileus Ouida Brown at 3:10 P.M. at the home' of Soror Myrtle Moore? co-hostess Soror Frances Perry led the group in the Lords Prayer and the Pledge.
    The Minutes were read ahd accented with one correction. Soror Dorothy Johnson's report on bonding was approximately $100.00. A commendation was given to Soror Perry for the excellent minutes,.
    Tamiouchos, Soror Johnson reported a check hq.s been sent to Frontier Bonding. Balance as of March 31. was A copy of the
    report is attached. The Basileus stated it is no longer necessary to have a motion for the minutes or treasury report. It will be filed.

    Graduate Advisor 8oror Jo Ann Weddle reported Kappa Xi had a Rush. Money was sent Tuesday.by overnight mail although Soror Barrett states the funds never were received. Three girls have been approved and will be initiated the end of the month.
    Recunious Grammateus Soror Lillian Gates reported 27 members are paid and 1? for E.A.F. She has Procedures Book. Those who .ordered should pay $1.00 for postage. Financial cards have been received and will be distributed.
    Constitution and By-Laws and Standard Procedures Quiz for the Day was administered by Soror-Wflla White.
    Scholarship Committee report submitted by Soror Weddle. Full report attached. Scholarships of $650.00 will be awarded Krisha D. Neighbors, Michele Dupree, and Kisha Randolph.

    African Village. Soror Greta Mills requested stationery so that she could correspond with national office.
    The Apts. Soror Maxine Randolph announced various happenings in Las Vegas area. Flyers were distributed.
    COIP. Soror Brown received a letter from Soror Barrett for sorors to send money for the Building Fund. It is urgently needed; it must be finished by July.
    Water Day. Soror Kirkland collected $140.00. Full report of those contributing attached.
    Job Corp. Soror Johnson accepted tube socks for males and

    Regional Conference. Minutes was passed around for sorors to
    view. Copy of audit;submitted by Soror Speed attached. She stated it
    has been sent to Supreme Basileus, Supreme Tamiouchus, and the Chapter.
    ^Cluster. Soror White offered commendation for outstanding job on
    Minutes and thanks was offered.
    New Business. Black. Dollar Days. In the absence of Soror Margaret
    Crawford, Soror Brown asked all sorors to keep a record of all money
    spent at black businesses during the month of April.
    All black family activities should be kept for the month of May.
    Soror Weddle reported ground breaking on the West Side by Bank of
    America where nd bank has existed.
    Soror Kirkland suggested getting black children to open bank accounts

    Blacktivities Calendar report submitted and included by Soror

    collected there will be a profit of Soror Brown urged sorors
    to work actively to collect all money which is still outstanding.

    The meeting was called to order by the Basileus, Soror Ouida Brown at 3’15 P.Mi. at the residence of Soror Loveda Minley. The Lord's Prayer and Pledge were recited.
    The Minutes were read and accepted with one correction.
    Soror Brown reported on Regional. Because of our increased membership we are noto certified for four delegates to the Boule. They will be Sorors Brown, Minley, Jo Ann Weddle, and the fourth delegate is declared to be LaVonne Lewis. Soror Cornelia Owens (Los Angeles, xJetW CA.) has been appointed as the new Regional Director. 37^ graduate delegates, 97 undergraduates, 10 Boule members, made a grand total of 504 sorors in attendance. COIP - Far Western Region has contributed FroO all regions has been collected. Our

    Hodegos: SOror Lois Bolden reported a balance of OHmWM* The 50/50 Raffle collection for this meeting was $25.00. The winner of $12.50 was Soror Brown.
    Graduate Advisor: Soror Weddle reported Kappa Xi had their Intake Process last week-end. Three sorors were initiated. Thanks to sorors who came and participated. It was Stated there must be a workshop for Initiation. Everyone must attend; if one does not attend, it is impossible to attend Membership Intake Process. Soror Willa White felt it would be good if we could have the workshop an hour prior to the general meeting.
    MOTION by Soror Barbara Kirkland that there be a membership intake workshop before a meeting. All were in favor.
    Pecunious Grammateus: • Soror Lillian Gates reported we now have 29 paid members.
    Tamiouchus: Soror Dorothy Johnson reported the Chapter has a

    She also stated it is necessary for sorors to pay dues in December in order that dues can be sent to Headquarters.on time-article VI, Section 15» page 53; also vouchers must be submitted for checks to be issued.
    Program: Sorer Margaret Crawford requested that all "Black Dollar Days" to merchants be turned'in. Literature on "Stroke; Prevention and Treatment" and "Get Out the Vote Campaign" were distributed.
    By-Laws: Soror White had five questions re "Bureau of Misinformation." Proposed Amendments to the Constitution were discussed and all received a YES vote except Article III, Section 3, pages 22 and 23. Our vote: 6 for; 10 against, therefore a NO vote.
    Membership: Soror Lewis announced Committee meeting will be held Friday evening at 7P.M; at her house. No place is available at this time for a dance in May.
    EAF: Soror Minley had no report, but she made a plea for every soror to contribute her $10.00. It was very embarrassing at Regional when Theta Theta Omega was not a 100$ contributing Chapter and unable to stand during representation.
    COIP: Soror Myrtle Moore reported one person has donated $80.00. Soror Brown reported she has donated $200.00.
    The Arts: Soror Maxine Randolph announced local activities for. the month.
    Black-tiviiies Calendar: Soror Lewis pleaded with sorors to please pay their $50.00 assessment. The deadline will be the June meeting.
    Soror Lois Ice feels a formal complaint should be made to National office because of late receipt of material. Soror Kirkland stated if they are assessing us then they should meet their own deadlines. Soror Brown will send a letter.
    Job Corps: Soror Johnson reported she collected eleven pairs of tube socks and sent them. She did not have enough postage, but she made up the difference. November items should be brought so there can be a large Christmas gift.
    Strengthening the Black Family: Soror White requested that all Black Family activities be brought to the June Meeting. She also presented a Resolution in the form of a MOTION that all peaceable means be used regarding recent racial conflicts. All were in favor.

    The meeting was called to order promptly at 3 o’clock P.M. since we had a quorum. The Basileus commended Sorors for their prompt arrival. The Lord’s Prayer and Pledge opened the meeting.
    The Philacter stated twelve sorors were present, without any visitors. She did report a new soror had communicated with her. Michelle Perch, an out-of-towner who has been in the city for two months, plans to activate in September. The Basileus asked that we tell others about the Las Vegas Chapter. Many are surprised there is an active Chapter in Las Vegas.
    The Minutes were read with one correction.
    Tamiouchos: Soror Dorothy Johnson reported a balance forward of chSHAWMW) Receipts totalling MWWWSSWSY Balance as of May 31, 1992, HvWkMtt* Total assets, including the CD Question?
    Is the CD restricted funds? Yes, it is only for scholarship. Although the may be misleading, it must be included.
    Full report is attached. The Tamiouchos reminded Sorors vouchers must be submitted; no funds will be given without a voucher.
    Epistoleus: Correspondence was read by Soror Loveda Minley.
    Hodegos: Soror Lois Bolden reported birthdays and anniversaries for June. The Sunshine Committee 50/50 was explained. The total amount collected for March 7, April 4, and May 2, was $80.00. Pull report is included.
    Pecunious Grammateus: Soror Lillian Gates reported thirty Sorors are now financial.
    Program: Soror Margaret Crawford reported most are working on guidelines.
    By-Laws: Soror Willa White announced rather than By-Laws, Roberts’ Rules of Order will be discussed in September. Sorors will be quizzed on "Main Motion."
    Membership: Soror LaVonne Lewis stated if you receive the Newsletter you will have all the information for the Intake Process which will commence at 2P.M. at September Meeting. Time frames are required. The Basileus added if one does not come to orientation and a Soror wants to pin someone, it will be impossible; there is no flexibility.

    report.
    Economics (Black Dollar Days): Soror Crawford reported she had received information from five Sorors. Total amount spent during this time was and thirteen business were supported.
    Water Day: Soror White reported she and Soror Barbara Kirkland went to the Shelter for Battered Women and were shown around. White
    socks, white cotton underwear for women, and disposable diapers are needed. It is a worthwhile project that we might want to do again.
    Job Corp: Soror Johnson had no report. Again she requested we plan to bring items in November so we aan send a big Christmas box.

Soror Lewis jnformed the Chapter of the Coalition Grant between St. James the Apostle Catholic Church and Alpha Kappa Alpha to involve parents and reading over the summer. It is a $4,000.00 Grant for six week program. The Project Director is Julie Doyle, School Librarian. The training program will be held July 8. The Steering Committee
    will meet 12:30 p.M. Monday.

    MOTION by Soror Lois Ice and seconded by Soror Frances Perry that all financial sorors who have not attended a meeting be mailed a program booklet, so they be aware of their responsibilities to the Chapter (e.g. hostessing, etc.) All were in favor.

    Fund Raising Committee: Lisa Davis volunteered for this Committee. The Dance will be held September 5» at 9 P.M. at the Emerald Springs Inn. After 5 attire is urged.
    New Business: Soror Crawford made urgent plea for renewing our Membership in N.A.A.C.P. We must show some support at this time. A discussion followed on minimal bank account balance.
    •MOTION by Soror Lewis and seconded by Jo Ann Weddle that we remove all exceptwhich equals from the West Side
    Credit Union and place it in the Chapter Banking account for expenses. Question? Do we need all the money? Could we consider taking only half of the money? The MOTION was amended to remove only $400.00. Motion failed.
    Soror Crawford reiterated that she would like for $100.00 be given to the N.A.A.C.P.
    Discussion continued on discrepancy in bank statements. Tamiouchos has never received all treasurer material from Soror Sylvia Speed. The monthly statements which Soror Johnson distributes is based on material and money she has received since she assumed office January 1, 1992.
    MOTION by Soror Thelma Tyree and seconded by Soror Bolden that no more money be expended by the Chapter until there is a full accounting. All in favor.
    The Audit Committee Chairperson Soror Lewis called a Committee Meeting for 7 P.M. on June 11, at her home. This of course must be based on availability of Soror Speed.
