Las Vegas, Nevada, June 5, 192# Dear Father: Assistant Engineer McKee called in today relative to the well that is heing drilled at Dry Lake. He informs me that somebody is having the land around there surveyed and fears that they intend to take up the parcel upon which the drilling operations are now being conducted, and wants to know how the can be protected. Railroad ComnanvJ The well is now down over 500 feet and no water has been developed yet, and they are going only 50 or 75 feet further at atnhdat puptoi ndto,w n aanndo tthheern wienltle.nd to move to the other side of the track Dry Lake is in Sec. 17, T. 17, S, R. 64 E., but I am not positive as to the particular 40 acre subdivision of said section in which drilling operations are now being donducted, though I beiieve it is in the SE£ of the HE£- of said section, and in case they do not strike water there they intend to drill in the NE£ of the SE^- of said section. 4 Our actual possession would protect us against any mining claim that might be located to take in the well now being drilled but in case they desire to drill on the other side of the track we wsotualrdt dhraivlel innog .protection iin case a claim is located before we Do you think we should apply for permission to appropriate the water from each of these 40 acre tracts, and if so, get mtahkee daaptpal iacsa ttioo nt.he location of the point of drilling, and I will Your Son, Leo A.
