|| By GEORGE BOURKE ?╟ú Herald Amusement Columnist 2*; There is a truly wall-to- wall, holidy-on-holiday flavor ?╓¬to the 25th silver anniversary of Holiday on Ice revue which is spin- ning, gliding and merrily hipping and hopping with all-senses de- lights at the Miami Beach Convention Hall currently. Holiday on Ice stars and directors (Don Arden is directing this year) have al- ways striven for perfection in their spectacular displays. And every year they seem- ingly have achieved the very tops in costuming, choreog- raphy. originality of idea and in performance. ?╟≤ Only to come back the next year with a production of new perfection. This 25th edition is no ex- ception. It IS bigger and better ?╟÷ in every depart- ment. THE MAIN ?╟ú1 a difference,?╟Ñ however, ap- pears to be in the format ?╟÷ which allows more time for comedy and novelty. Ronnie Robertson, with his spinning and graceful danc- ing on the steel blades; Marei Lge nb e in and Alice Quessey, as the main balleri- nas of the company, and Alfredo Mendoza and Ray Balmer as the male of that specie; and delightful Juanita Perpelly and Tommy Allen in their romantic team play, im- plement the revue numbers with considerable verve and skill. They zip and z o o m through routines tied into the various holidays of the American scene ?╟÷ both North iand South America. JUANITA and Tommy are Valentines; Robertson is a devils Disciple in a Halloween number and Mr. Fifth Avenue in a routine h o n o r 1 n g Easter; Miss Langenbein makes a beauti- ful .Gold e n Goddess to Balmer?╟╓s Roman Gladiator in a Roman Holiday spectacular . . fand so on. AH of this specialization is backed up by scores of tal- ented and lavishly ?╟ costumed G l a m o u r -icers and Ice- squires. Spotlights are a 1 s o centered on Christmas, : Show Review Peter O?╟╓Toole .. ?╟≤ the real king ?╟╓ ?╟≤ ?╟≤, has Miami date Fourth of July, Birthdays, Mexican Fiestas, Rio Carnival season, and spring. It is spring which intro- duces one of the hits of the show, the Skating Cook Fam- ily ?╟÷ father, mother, daugh- ter and two sons. A delight- ful crowdpleaser. BUT THERE IS more In the comedy spirit than ever before - to provide the margin of difference over last year. Joining holdover comedy stars such as Paul Andre and Johnny Leach, who team in several sidebus- ters, and Alfredo Mendoza and John Ladue as an Ole Hound Dog, mirth-seekers will find big rewards in Kossmayer?╟╓s Mules and Werner and Debise Muller?╟╓s Chimps. Holiday on Ice?╟╓s Silver An- niversary Revue will be at the Miami Beach Convention Hall through April 5, opening the following day in Palm Beach. The Miami premiere Tues- day'was a benefit for Boys- town of Florida, with Bob Griese as honorary chairman. More than 7,100 attended. f HmH wm - Mil ?√ß % v %' * j George Bourke \ Herald Amusements .Columnist jMmHHIP?Σ≤"?Σ≤ H iH
