    September 12# 1952 F* W* boolworth Company &G5 Montgomery Street Ban Francisco &# California Attentions Mr* M. 0, strohneier Dear Sirt Referring to your letter of August 26, 1952 concerning charge for cooling water for Refrigeration Machines as i n d i c t e d in our letter of August 6, 1952* At the time the base rate for this service m m determined* consideration was given to the fact that such machines would be equipped with recirculating systems as required by City Ordinance* The charge for water for cooling refrigeration machines, as set forth in our rate schedule was# In the absence of meters# based upon tonnage of the refrigeration equipment being used* The rates which were approved by the Public Service Commission of Nevada apply equally to all types of water cooled refrigeration machines regardless of the purpose for which such machines are used or the period and number of hours per day in operation* As you no doubt know# the laws of the State of Nevada prohibit the use of meters* Xn other cities throughout the country netera afford a basis of charging each customer for water actually used* however# until such time as meters are permitted in Las Vegas# water for refrigeration units must be billed on a tonnage basis. Inasmuch as water is used for cooling of your refrig­eration machines# we have no alternative other than to charge the prescribed rates for.'the service. Attached is our invoice in the amount of '-736,00, covering cooling water for the period of January 1, to and • including August 31, 1952. will appreciate early remittance, Yours truly# f g ! ? , J o h n s o n
