    EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 259 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 187 OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF FIRE MARSHALL, DEFINING HIS POWERS AND DUTIES". The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas do ordain as follows: Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance 187 of the City of Las Vegas, is hereby amended to read as follows: That there is hereby created the office of Fire Marshall. The Fire Marshall shall be appointed by the Board of City Commissioners. The Fire Marshall shall at all times be answerable to the Chief of the Fire Department and shall follow and obey his instructions. S Section 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 5. This ordinance is declared to be and is hereby passed as an EMERGENCY ORDINANCE and shall take effect immediately after its passage and publication. Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to have this ordinance published in the Las Vegas Age a weekly newspaper published in the City of Las Vegas for two weeks, that is to say, it shall be published in said paper once a week for two consecutive weeks. The foregoing ordinance was read aloud for the first time and voted upon at a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners on the 4th day of November, 1941. Vote for; Commissioners Smith, Tinch, Clark, Rubidoux and his Honor the Mayor Howell C. Garrison, and was read aloud for the second time and passed by the unanimous consent of the Board as an emergency ordinance on the 4th day of November, 1941, voting for; Commissioners Smith, Tinch, Clark, Rubidoux and His Honor the Mayor, Howell C. BRIMACOMBE being duly sworn, deposes and says: That she is General Manager of Las Vegas Age, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, printed and published at Las Vegas, in the County of Clark, State of Nevada, and that the attached Emergency Ordinance No. 259 was published in said newspaper for a period of two weeks from November 7, 1941 to November 14, 1941 inclusive, being the issues of said newspaper for the following dates, to-wit: November 7 to 14, 1941. That said newspaper was regularly issued and circulated on each of the dates above named. That the legal charge for publishing said legal notice was $17.10 Signed Dorothy D. (Seal) ----oOo---- ORDINANCE NO. 260 AN ORDINANCE TO SECURE THE GENERAL HEALTH OF THE CITY AND TO PREVENT THE INTRODUCTION OF CONTAGIOUS, INFECTIOUS OR MALIGNANT DISEASES INTO THE CITY BY ESTABLISHING REGULATIONS CONCERNING AUTOMOBILE TRAILERS, PROTABLE BUILDINGS, TRUCKS AND WAGONS PROVIDING LIVING OR SLEEP­ING QUARTERS FOR ONE OR MORE PERSONS, OR OCCUPIED FOR BUSINESS PURPOSES, AND CAMPS FOR THE ACCOMMODATION THEREOF; IMPOSING A LICENSE TAX ON TRAILER CAMPS; DECLARING CERTAIN THINGS TO CONSTITUTE A NUISANCE; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. WHEREAS, the use or occupancy of portable structures and trucks, trailers, wagons and other vehicles in the City of Las Vegas, for living, sleeping or business purposes for an inordinate period of time or without adequate provisions being made for sanitation, sewage disposal, electric service and water service constitutes a serious menace to the health of the city and the inhabitants thereof and threatens the introduction of contagious, infectious or malignant diseases into the city, and a situation is presented thereby which requires regulation. NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vega s do ordain as follows: Section 1. The following terms whenever used in this ordinance shall have the meaning indicated in this section: Trailer: Any truck, wagon or other vehicle or structure equipped for moving or adapted for being moved about on wheels, runners or otherwise, and providing living or sleeping quarters or accommodations for one or more persons of facilities for the conduct of any business enterprise.
