Mr. Wm. Reinhardt (2) Los Angeles - Jan. 16, 1952 4747-11-64 (Case #1214) w m . p cc: Mr. W.R. Rouse AN 7 1952 RE: Application of LVL&WCO. for Emergency Relief by Amending Certain Rules and Regulations. Referring to the above subject and in connection with the hearing set in Las Vegas for January 22nd: Messrs. Cory, Renwick, Johnson and I went over this entire situation January 14th and came to the conclusion that since there seemed to be much more reason to believe that the Las Vegas Valley Water District, the Colorado River Commission and the lessees at Henderson were close to working out an amicable settlement of their troubles, which would permit the Water District to secure water from Lake Mead, and since we felt that after the hearing the Public Service Commission would not grant our application because of political pressure etc., we would be in a better position to keep the application on file and hold it over the heads of the people of Las Vegas and the Water District in order that we might be in a better position to insist that they conserve water and also expedite the pending negotiations between the Water District, Colorado River Commission and the lessees. I therefore telephoned the City Attorney, Mr. Cannon, asking if it would be agreeable to him if the case went off calendar to be reset at some later date upon request of either party. Mr. Cannon stated he would not consent to such proceedings but would not oppose it. I then talked to Mr. Allen, Chairman of the Public Service Commission of Nevada, and he in turn talked to Mr. Cannon and I am now in receipt of the following telegram from the Public Service Commission: E.E. Bennett Jan. 15, 1952 " Union Pacific Railroad Co. Order being entered today cancelling hearing Las Vegas Land and Water Company originally set for January 22. Public Service Commission of Nevada "
