She reminded everyone in the Nevada Student Alliance about their finance reports. She thanks everyone that attended the Tech Fee meeting last Friday and those people were SENATOR FLINNER and SENATOR WEST. Not much was discussed just about the projects over the summer. She attended the planning council meeting and passed out the agenda. The document was published a few months ago. She will be sending out a new student orientation memo that will be sent out next week. She read a UCCSN system fax about the CCSN president being removed and demoted to a professor. CONSOLIDATED STUDENTS1 * UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA 4505 MARYLAND PARKWAY • LAS VEGAS, NEVADA 89154-2009 • (702) 895-3645 • FAX (702) 895-4606 SENATE PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE CIANCI said SENATOR FLINNER I don't know where your nameplate went. Don't take the sliders out. I don't want to replace them every week. The two computers in the middle are connected to the net. The other two needed more slots to plug it into the network. I have an updated phone list, I misspelled an email on the list and I'll put a new list in your boxes tonight. I have class schedules from most of you as well. SENATOR CRAWFORD asked if it he needed the current semester? SENATE PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE CIANCI answered yes. I need your office hours as well. I will be looking through the catalog for something to achieve our agendas and will be submitting things to get it. SENATE PRESIDENT AMES QUIT A said that 34-05 meeting agenda is already posted. There will be a meeting over winter break. The directors need a meeting so they can get going with what they're working on. The meeting is on the 12 of January and it will be tentatively at 4pm. If you can't make it please email me. He then showed the Senate how the yahoo groups work. SENATOR NISSEN asked do we have a meeting daring finals? SENATE PRESIDENT AMES QUIT A said No. December 1 is the last one for the semester. REPORTS Senate Committee Reports SENATOR SOLDANO, BYLAWS CHAIRMAN said that we were going to have a meeting on Tuesday December 2, but lots of people have been coming up to me and saying they can't make it so we'll be holding it at a different time. VICE PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE BROWDER, SCHOLARSHIP CHAIRMAN said that the scholarship committee met last week. They selected a vice chair SENATOR SUMNER, and they selected three faculty members. We are in the process of accepting application for the student teaching scholarship. SENATOR MULLINAX, RULES AND ETHICS CHAIRMAN said that he needs to see members so we can find a meeting time. We were supposed to have the rules by this meeting but since we didn't get a committee till last week, we need to waive the bylaw. Faculty Senate/University Committee Reports SENATOR MAYER said that the Rebel Yell Advisory Board meeting was another just controversial day. They removed the interim Editor in Chief. I was upset with the 2 decision. Ellen took over as interim Editor two weeks ago just in the interest of getting the paper out. She expressed displeasure with the faculty advisor and she fired her. In turn a couple of the members made a motion to fire her in a 4 - 2 vote. We need to make sure the issue gets out. The students aren't making decisions for this paper anymore and the faculty advisor is basically running it. I didn't think Ellen deserved that. I thought it was unfair. It sent a message that if you speak out we'll fire you. We're powerless. He said that the advisory board also talked about the sexual harassment findings. It includes having a statement requiring them to go through sexual harassment training and appointing someone to oversee them in this process. PRESIDENT MORADKHAN asked what was the reason for the vacancies for the student representatives? SENATOR MAYER replied that at the beginning of the meeting one of the members made a motion to jump right into the sexual harassment charges. I should've seen that it should have been filled. I was new to the board and trusted them. I should've caught that. We have a paper with no editor with one issue remaining. I think the issue will go out. I thought the decision was bad. We're not making the discussions. We need continuing until we appoint a new editor December 12. Business Manager Report BUSINESS MANAGER HILL said there was nothing to report. Director's Reports CSUN SERVICES DIRECTOR IZZOLO gave her report. She said that she was disappointed in the disbursements meeting because it was more of a purchasing thing. Thanks SENATOR ROSAS for going and SENATE SECRETARY GOATZ and ENTERTAINMENT AND PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR LONG and ASSISTANT ENTERTAINMENT AND PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR ARNESON. It was no use to me and I'm no further along in the funding requests then I was before. I'm still having problems with the Secretary of State. I'm very sorry to the S.O.R.C.E. room people. It makes it smell. Whoever's in charge of the wall should make them do it at night. ELECTIONS DIRECTOR EVANS said my apologies for not being here last week I was sick. Been working on the packet. We have an outline, but I haven't received any feedback from you. If you have any opinions please tell me. And if you ever want to go to my board meetings or meet with me please do so. I worked with Rebel Card and got the final quote, it's a huge investment of $17,000.00 and $5,000.00 a year to maintain. And for 8 days of elections that's a lot. We do need some type of process for it. OFFICE OF STUDENT INFORMATION DIRECTOR TAYLOR has been helping me out with this. I don't feel comfortable spending the money on something that might not be useful next year. We are running out of time and we need something. We may have to go back to ballot voting as long as it is fair and valid. My next board meeting is next Tuesday at 5pm. If you guys want input please come and give me your input. I got 5 applications 3 for my board. If anyone is interested I'll be taking applications up till the end of next week. I need people that will be here over break. I know we did Pizza, Pop and Politics and I want feedback from it. NEVADA STUDENT AFFAIRS DIRECTOR TEGANO and I are working on that. We're deciding on what to do. Any suggestions let me know ASAP. I'm leaving tonight and I won't be back till Monday. ENTERTAINMENT AND PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR LONG gave his report. He said that we had our last tailgate of the year Saturday it was good and cold. No more tailgates. We had a Noon-scene last Friday. We reserved the amphitheatre every Friday for next semester. The money on here is from the VW tour. The campus policy says they get $7,500.00 and we get $2,500.00. My next board meeting will be next Tuesday at 4pm. NEVADA STUDENT AFFAIRS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR BLOOD gave NEVADA STUDENT AFFAIRS DIRECTOR TEGANO report on her behalf. She said they had Dr. Newman and it was really successful and had over 50 people there and had a good question and answer session. We will be holding an informal meeting next Tuesday and talking about looking into the survey classes. If you need to contact her she's easily reachable by phone or email. SENATOR CRAWFORD where is the meeting on Tuesday? NEVADA STUDENT AFFAIRS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR BLOOD replied at 2:30pm in her office. OFFICE OF STUDENT INFORMATION DIRECTOR TAYLOR gave his report. He said that basically we're updating the website. We're going to get everything on there hopefully by Monday. I need your bios still. Working with ELECTIONS DIRECTOR EVANS with an elections solution. Have a great Thanksgiving. PUBLICATIONS DIRECTOR GEORGE gave his report. He said that the magazine is done and being passed around. I am aware of the misspelling. He held a board meeting today. He will be dividing the board into marketing, evaluations - goes through the submissions and to educate of all the mediums on expressions and who will look over the final magazine and production - helps put the magazine together. I'm trying to work with getting it off campus, so hopefully this magazine is more conservative. We want to take it to the high schools and open it to submissions and select 2 students to highlight and to create it for graduating seniors and offer a scholarship to them. SENATOR MAYER wants to congratulate you on the magazine. VICE PRESIDENT CHRISTIANSEN gave REBEL RADIO DIRECTOR GREENROCK report on his behalf. He said that he had to take care of a group project. He is waiting for the new business calls. New flyers are going up. He will have a staff meeting tomorrow night at 8:30pm. It's a brainstorming thing. He is working on an 4 event with RHA. It is open to all students having a guest speaker who is HIV positive for 10 years and making a UNLV quilt. December 2 at 10pm and UNLV night on Wednesday December 3 at 7pm. SENATOR CIANCI asked if they selected RA's yet? RHA PRESIDENT answered no. SENATOR CIANCI asked who and where would someone find an application? RHA PRESIDENT said that you would need to talk to Dennis Hicks or call extension 54296 to talk to her about applications and to call the office first to see if I'm there. SENATOR NISSEN asked what time is AIDS awareness? RHA PRESIDENT replied 9pm in the DC. Student Athletics had no report. Student Body President's Advisory Council Liaison report was given by JESSICA ADLER. She said they had a brainstorm session last week. Yielded to Jeff, Campus Life Chair. Jeff said we're doing stuff with athletics. I've got a meeting on December 2 with ATHLETICS DIRECTOR MIKE HAMRICK about working as a single group.
