Item 2, the position of later Checker was established in July, 1?42, at which time a rate of $250,00 per month was auth­orised, the rate, however, wes not paid out Instead the present incumbent of tho position was emjfcyed at rats of $175*00 per month. So is a married man with three dependents* his position requires s familiarity with the Company** water system and an ability to read the Company's maps, to locate lots and blocks, tho Company*s water mains and service lines, and a minute familiarity with the City and Its subdivisions whero Company mains are located* Ibis employee is required to systematically check the Company's service lines and to make adjustments where additions are made to property by owners; he is bonded and collects cash both inside and outside of the office, and assists in the Company's office when not engaged In outside work. It would require at least six month's time to train a man of equal skill and ability to perform the work now done by this employes, Bates paid for com­parable positions in tho area are considerably in excess of rat* tald this employes, is an example, the Southern Kevada Bower ompany has a Utility Man whose position requires similar akill and ability, who receives a daily rate of $10,40, and it is, therefore, proposed to increase this hater Checker's compensation so as to more nearly place him on a parity with salary rates paid on other similar positions in the area, Helen Fitzgerald, Clerk-Stenographer, now employed at a rate of $100,00 per month has been in the service of employer since July, 193&, Ihe work performed by this employee has been substantially increased since that time because of increased busi­ness resulting from new industries and army lousing Projects which have been established in the area.
