Las Vegas - March 9, 1953 Mr, L.V. Peart - Omaha Please refer to your letter dated February 24, 1953 File BD 5*7 relative to Examination of Accounts; 1. Instructions have been issued by me that in the future all adjustments in amounts carried on Form 26 be approved and initialed Mr. M.E. Davis. by my assistant, 2. We are now cheeking the field on all of the items listed by Mr. Doty and have had considerable success in securing payment of substantial number of them. After the field check is completed I plan to secure the approval of the Law Department and recommend that the seven items listed by Mr. Doty together with several others which have developed through field check, be written off as uncollectible. 3(a) Receipts are now being exchanged on all items of material on tools loaned or borrowed and all transoafcftiicoen. s of this nature are now reported through my 3(h) This Item presents a rather difficult problem since to keep a proper daily record of all the miscellaneous materials used in maintenance work and service connections suoh as various and numerous sizes and kinds of pipe, pipe fittings, etc., which are constantly needed both night and day, it would require a store keeping aet-up with additional help to keep it up to date. Serious consideration is being given this matter, however, but in the meantime we have installed a daily book record of all service connections made which shows* 1. Date 2. Name of worker 3* Number and size of connection 4. Location of tap 5* Location of shut-off We are also Installing a book record of maintenance work repairing leaks, etc., which shows: 12.. ADdadtree sosf repairs 3. Material used 4. Name of worker making repairs. Thank you for your letter and be assured that I will be glad to have the benefit of your comments at any time. LRM:sn L.R.
