% 2- rates are e ffe c tiv e fo r this area only; therefore, should you desire to s e ll water outside o f Clark*a towns!te, you ean make any charge you desire; however, there is the feature o f ?becoming a public u t ilit y in area outside o f the townsite, and i f la s Yegas land and Water Company became such a u t ilit y , then you would be required to serve anyone demanding water. In my opinion, the law Department should give careful consideration to type o f contract that would be used should i t be determined to in s ta ll meters and s e ll water at wholesale to subdividers outside o f Clark*s townsite. the Sparling meters that we in stalled in main pipe lin e some time ago are quite sa tisfactory fo r allocatin g the quantity o f water consumed to the various uses; however, these meters are not p articu larly accurate for small flows and are not recommended fo r sale o f water to outside parties under conditions obtaining at las Yegas. The trid e n t meter made by the Heptane Meter Company would be sa tisfactory, and this company has on the market a f i r e service meter which has been tested and approved at the o f f i c i a l testin g laboratory of the S a tion a l Board o f f i r e Underwriters, the six inch and four inch sizes cost $4SG and $240 resp ectively, while the o r d inary trident meters in these sizes would cost $408 and $204. Additional allow ance should be made fo r box and cover, depending upon type constructed. Yours tru ly, Chief Engineer. % oo-Mr. f . H. Knickerbocker - Your f i l e 085-855, C . U . jB .
