Venues Bally's Jubilee Theater; Huntridge Theatre Total screenings 20 films Projected attendance 10,000 participants and attendeesJoshua Abbey, Executive Director Joshua Abbey has produced, directed and performed in numerous productions in a variety of disciplines including theater, dance, performance art and film. His original theatre production of Rivertrip, was performed at New York's Lincoln Center. In New York, he also produced two critically acclaimed independent feature length films, First Coda and Don't Stand on the Ocean and was an organizer of the New York Harbor Festival that commemorated the Statue of Liberty. The festival was one of the largest and most publicized events ever held in New York. Joshua has a B.A. in Theater from UNLV and an M.F.A. in Producing from the American Film Institute (AFI). His thesis film at AFI was entitled Monkey Park and starred Amanda Plummer and Tim Roth. During his tenure as Program Director for the Summerlin Library and Performing Arts Center he produced the Las Vegas Literary Film Festival, the first festival ever to focus exclusively on films adapted from literature. As the Program Director for the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas, Mr. Abbey helped to establish the Jean Weinberger Museum of Jewish Culture, produced numerous events such as the Goldberg Film/Lecture Series where important Jewish-content films were screened accompanied by appearances of the filmmakers. Joshua Abbey, Executive Director and co-founder of the non-profit organization CineVegas, is committed to enhancing the cultural significance of Las Vegas on the world stage. Amie Williams, Artistic Director Amie Williams graduated with honors from Yale University with a combined degree in Theater Arts and English and has an M.A. in Anthropology and an M.F.A. in film production from U.C.L.A. Mrs. Williams spent three years working as a teacher, writer, and media consultant in Kenya, East Africa, for organizations such as the Ford Foundation, USAID, and CARE International. Amie has produced and directed several films including What the Water Gave Her and Uncommon Ground, a film that brought together a diverse group of American and South African youths to explore their views on race, culture and nationalism. She received a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Grant for Uncommon Ground, which won numerous awards, and screened at film festivals throughout the world such as A.F.I., FESPACO, Cork, Ireland, Melbourne, Chicago, Berlin and New York. Ms. Williams, a UNLV Film and Women's Studies Visiting Professor, recently completed her latest documentary, Stripped and Teased, Tales of Las Vegas Women, which will premiere in Las Vegas as part of the CineVegas Festival. Amie is the co-founder of Reel Las Vegas, Inc., presenting organization for CineVegas. Michele Rogers Berk, Executive Producer Michele began performing at the age of three and continued her acting career through college, with a full scholarship to Adelphi University in Long Island, and to date. She has performed on Broadway, was a regular character on the popular ABC soap opera All My Children and has appeared in over ten national commercials. Her goal to be a producer/ writer took her to the west coast, where she worked in movie development and associate-produced telefilms for major networks. ? In 1994, she formed her own production company, Lotus Pictures, Inc., which has developed feature films, made- for-TV movies, and a television series. She recently completed the feature film Legacy starring David Hasselhoff and Rod Steiger,shot on location in the Philippine Islands.* Her charitable contributions extend to Los Angeles and Las Vegas from entertainment-related events, to charity fundraising dinners, to telethons.
