    TULE SPRINGS, CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA Diary Entries of Charles Rozaire Southwest Museum Expedition April 1-16, 1956 April 1 (Sunday) Easter Sunday. Went with Mother & Dad to Unity Church in Culver City. In afternoon we went to the Southwest Museum. I packed the Museum truck with groceries and equipment. & drove it home. We had dinner at the Tower Restaurant. In evening I drove museum truck to M.R, Har­rington's in San Fernando and stayed overnight there in "great room" outside. April 2 (Monday) Stuart Peck & Dee Simpson arrived about 8 j00 AM, I had breakfast with Harrington's. Loaded truck & attached Santa Barbara Museum of Nat. History Jeep behind. Left about 9s30 AM with M.R. Harrington accompany­ing me in truck. Dee and Stuart followed in latter's Jeep, Lunch in Barstow ca. Is30 FM^ M.R. told anecdotes on way. Arrived Las Vegas ca. 6:00 FM and had dinner there. Stayed overnight at the West Motel (150 West Bonanza Rd,) April 3 (Tuesday) Breakfast in Las Vegas. Arrived at camp spot near sites SE of Tule Springs. Set up camp. Dee and Stuart went scouting (for indications) w|§ile M.R, & I stayed in camp. Phil Orr came in late afternoon. I showed him the nearby sites0 April U (Wednesday) Started using the dragline, but developed parts trouble. Went with Phil into Las Vegas to get parts & dynamite. Had lunch in Las Vegas. I drove his car back, while he took Jeep. Former left at Gilcrease Ranch. In late afternoon did some more dragline work and blasting of overburden. April 5 (Thursday) M.R. left on 6:50 AM train for Los Angeles. Phil drove him in. Worked in AM, some in afternoon, April 6 (Friday) Dug at site all day. Helped Phil Orr some in getting out animal bone, April 7 (Saturday) Worked all day at site using dragline and shoveling. "MAe" and Hazek NcCown came in middle of afternoon. Had nice campfire visit in evening. Got letter from Mother & Dad. April 8 (Sunday) I . 1 .1 £ Went with Phil Orr in Jeep in AM along base of mountains to north oi Tule Springs looking for possible caves. No luck. Had a flat and no spare so had to walk 7 miles to camp. Arrived at Noon. Willis Grafton and his father arrived. Spent afternoon relaxing & writing letter - one to Mother & Dad, other to Wallaces. Dee found stone scraper in situ associated with charc&al & animal bone® April 9 (Monday) . In AM I drove into Las Vegas with Willis Grafton's father xn W.G. s Jeep truck. Got 3 tires fixed. Shopped at grocery store. Went through gambling halls with Mr. W.G.'s father. He won $6.00. The Graftons left in early afternoon. Excavated at one of the charcoal concentrations
