MINUTES SENATE MEETING #20 April 15, 1980 Mover Student Union Building 4 p.m. Room 203 I. Call to Order , The twentieth meeting of the Consolidated Student Senate was called to-order at. 4:00. p-.m.-.in the Moyer Student Union Building. II. Roll Call Monbers in Attendance Gobi Ziros Scott Karosa Bill Haldeman Dorothy I-Ialpin Rick Oshinski "like Taylor Susana Reyes Skip Kelly Sandy Williams Ray Corbett Marty Burzinski Claire Dowel1 Pam Roberts Derrek Yelton David Martinez Dave Levins Denise Rajnovich Kel].v Camnbell-absent III. Approval of Minutes #19 Senator Oshinski said Publications board would check ways toward separating the "Yell" from CSUN. There being no further additions or corrections the minutes of Senate Meeting #19 stood approved as corrected. IV. Executive Board Announcements A. Elections Board Senate President Alderman reminded the Senate to add the name of Lee Drizin to Executive Board Nominations Elections Board. B. Allied Health Vacancy Senate President Alderman announced that Cindv Simia had resigned from the Senate from College of Allied Health. C. Commissioners Meeting Senate President Pro Tempore Burzinski announced that the commissioners meeting was very successful. The speed limit has been reduced to 25 mph and the vote was unanimous by the commissioners. D. Senate Party The party will be held today at Mike Taylor's house. Ccors has donated the refreshments for the party. E. Academic Vice-President Senate President Alderman announced that Dale Nitzki is the New Academic Vice President for UNLV. Senate Meeting #20 April 15, 1980 Page 2 V. Executive Board Nominations A. Elections Board Lee Drizin, Roberta Burton Senate President Pro Tempore Burzinski moved to approve Lee Drizin and Roberta Burton the motion was seconded. Discussion took place. The motion passed with fifteen in favor, one opposed, and one abstention. B. Radio Board No Nominations VI. Committee Reports A. Appropriations Board Vice-President Wyman read the minutes of the Appropriations Board. Senate 'toberts moved to approve the motion was seconded. Discussion took place. A motion was made to strike the Emergency item concerning the allocation of funds for the UNLV Soccer team from the minutes and place it on the next Senate meeting agenda as a action item. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Senator Kelley called for the question to vote on the minutes. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. The minutes passed with sixteen in favor and one abstention. B. Elections Board Robin Starlin read the minutes of the Elections Board. It was announced that all candidates had been certified from the primary election. Senator I-Iulen moved to approve the motion was seconded. Discussion took place. The minutes passed with twelve in favor, three onnosed, and two abstentions. C. Entertainment and Programming Board No report due to lack of qorum. D. Organizations Board Chairman, Dave Gist, read the minutes of the meeting. It was announced that 14 organizations were dropped, from the Organizations Board due to absence.. Senator Oshinski moved to approve the motion was seoncded. There being no further additions or corrections the minutes stood approved as read. E. Publications Board Rick Oshinski read the minutes of the meeting. Senator Kelly moved to approve the motion was seconded. There being no further additions or corrections the minutes stood approved. F. Ad Hoc Bike Committee Vice-President Wyman announced that Bike Paths had been placed on the Commissioners agenda. Lise has been checking into bike racks. G. Finanical Aid Senator Roberts announced that the committee is beginning to go over Scholarship forms. Next meeting will be Thursday at 3:30 in Humanities Room 233. I. Preschool Senate Martinez announced that the Preschool will be open during the first Summer Session, J. University Academic Standards Committee It was announced that the next meeting will be Tuesday at 2:30. Senate Meeting #20 Page 3 H. Outstanding Senator Awards Senator Levins announced that the conmittee has decided on the critiera for the reward. The three Senators should be announced at next weeks Senate meeting. VII. Old Business VIII. NOT Business IX. Open Discussion President Campbell reminded the Senate that even if there is a surplus in one account it doesn't mean to spend the money. The money may be needed for furture or to go into another account. Chuck White announced that there will be a Beer Bash for Senator laxalt on Monday. He encouraged everyone to come. Vice-President Wyman suggested to the Senate to check into the Soccer Team Allocation funds requested. Vice-President Wyman moved to adjourn the motion was seconded. Passed with fifteen in favor and two opposed, X.
