W 23-1-C Mr, Frank strong: Your memo June 23, file 7334, regarding water supply to the Gunnery School: Your understanding Is lncorreot# The present Air Field, eight miles north of town, will be turned over to exclusive control of the Army for use as a Gunnery • H \ jual School* The site for which bonds were Issued Is located about three miles south of the Flamingo and Is known at present as the Alamo Landing Field* This site has been deeded to the County and, In addition, the Government has released to the County some 1320 acres adjoining for use as a County Air Field for the accomodation of all commercial and private planes. The site eight miles north of Las Vegas, where the Gunnery School Is located, Is known as hoCarran Field* Commercial planes are using that landing field temporarily until runways can be constructed at the Alamo south of town. Contract has already been awarded to a Los Angeles firm for converting the army barracks at MoGarran.Field to apartments for use of personnel and their families when the field Is reactivated* A. M* Folger
