CONVENTION CENTER * LAS VEGAS, NEVADA PARADISE ROAD June A special meeting was called this date to meet sentatives of5 the United States Overseas Airlines Room of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Present werej Bob Cannon ; Mark Swain; Henry Bridgeman;* Cl esse Turner; Cedric Olsen; Jack Pepper; Dick Taylor; Syd Whitmore; Archie Loveland; Tony DeCarIo; Jack Con I on, Admini- strative Assistant to Senator Howard Cannon; A. F. Matthew, Vice President, Supplemental Air Carriers Conference, Washing- ton, D.C.; Frank Donahue, Advertising & Publicity, USOA; W. E, Cuffe, West Coast Coordinator, Maintenance and Operations, USOA; Elmo Ellsworth, Helen Pivoda, and others whose identity was not revealed. George Albright introduced Jack Con I on, Senator Howard Cannons Assistant, and explained the Senator had initiated this effort with Dr. Cox to try and get Las Vegas some direct service from Dallas, and turned the meeting over to Mr. Con I on. Mr. Con Ion then introduced the gentlemen from United States Overseas Airlines and said that Dr. Cox had been delayed and would not be in Las Vegas until later in the day. He said the men from USOA were interested in finding out what was expected of them by the people in Las Vegas and were not requesting sub- sidi zat ion. Mr. Frank Donohue said the USOA was very interested in this run from Dallas to Las Vegas. He explained that a supplemental airlines was permitted to make ten trips per month between any two cities and all that was necessary for certification of these flights was to file a plan with the CAB. The question in their mind was whether or not such flights were feasible from the standpoint of traffic between the two cities. It it turned out that more than ten flights per month were necessary, he could send an announcement to other supplemental airlines who he knew were interested and they too could furnish ten flights per month. He said if these flights were scheduled for certain days of the week, regardless of the number of persons signed up For the ?╟ Flight, thst Flight would go through# Mr. Bob Cannon asked Mr. Donohue just exactly what was expected of the Fair Board. Mr. Donohue said he would like to wait until Dr. Cox was here - that USOA has a standard and a deluxe flight and they would provide whatever Las Vegas thought was needed.
