(Introduction) IX. Open Discussion X. Ad journment CONSOLIDATED STUDENTS August 02, 1985 MEMORANDUM TO: THE EXECUTIVE BOARD AND SENATE FROM: JAMES E. OHRINER, Office of Public Information Director RE: Appointment of Assistant Director In accordance with the powers vested in me by the CSUN Senate in the Operating Policy of the CSUN Office of Public Information, Section IV., Subsection A, I do hereby nominate Ms. Janu Tornell as Assistant Director of the CSUN Office of Public Information. Her nomination requires the endorsement of the Executive Board and approval by the Senate. As you all are well aware, I will be vacating my position this month. So as to provide for a smooth transition of authority, I ask that Ms. Tornell's nomination be approved promptly. If the Senate so desires, it may appoint Ms. Tornell Director of the Department when I leave. In any case, it is important that the OPI be maintained in a responsible manner at all times, since the programs it handles are so diverse and must be continued. In speaking with Janu Tornell, I find her to not only be competent and suited for the position, she has expressed the desire to continue the good work of the OPI. She has personally sought out my assistance in understanding the role of the OPI and has, I feel, a good understanding of the OPI and CSUN. Most importantly, the OPI Director, and Assistant Director, must be diplomatic and able to listen. Ms. Tornell is not a "know-it-all." She is very well suited for the position of Assistant Director and will serve well as Director upon my resignation. Your kind attention in this matter is requested.
