The above and foregoing Ordinance was first proposed and read by title to the Board of Commissioners on the 6th day of February, 1957 and referred to the following committee composed of Commissioners Fountain and Sharp for recommendation; thereafter the said committee reported favorably on said ordinance on the 6th day of March, 1957 which was the regular meeting held on said day; that at said regular meeting the proposed ordinance was read in full to the Board of Commissioners as first introduced and adopted by the following vote: Voting "Aye": Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and Mayor Baker. NEVADA My Commission Expires April l4, 1958 ORDINANCE NO. 737 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 700 ALSO KNOWN AS THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE BY DELETING THE PROVISIONS REQUIRING AN ANNUAL RENEWAL OF JOURNEYMAN PLUMBERS CERTIFICATES OF COMPETENCY; BY MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR A PLUMBING CONTRACTOR TO REMPLOY UNLICENSED JOURNEYMAN PLUMBERS; BY PERMUTING GAS UTILITIES TO SECURE PERMITS TO DO CERTAIN WORK; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 2.10 of Ordinance No. 700 is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 2.10. Terms of Certificates of Qualification - Every Journeyman Plumber Certificate of Qualification, and every Apprentice Plumber Certificate of Qualification shall remain in force and effect indefinitely from date of issue, providing however, that all such Certificates must be validated yearly by the Department of Building and Safety at no cost to the holder. Such validation shall be made prior to January 31st of each year. Any person holding a Journeyman Plumber Certificate of Qualification or Apprentice Plumber Certificate of Qualification who shall allow the same to lapse for a period of six (6) months or more, or who shall discontinue working in the plumbing field for six (6) months or more, shall be required to take a new examination and be issued a new Certificate upon successfully passing such examination. Every Master Plumber Certificate of Qualification shall expire on December 31st of each year. SECTION 2. Section 2.11 of Ordinance No. 700 is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 2.11 Renewal of Certificates and Fees - All Master Plumber Certificates of Qualification, except Certificates which have been cancelled or revoked, may be renewed from year to year upon request and payment of the required renewal fee. If a renewal of Certificate be requested and the required fee paid within thirty (30) days of the expir­ation date of such Certificate, the renewal fee shall be $15.00. If such renewal be re­quested and the required fee paid more than thirty (30) days but less than ninety (90) days after the expiration date of such Certificate, the renewal fee shall be doubled. No Certificate may be renewed more than ninety (90) days after the expiration date of such Certificate, but in such event, a new examination will be required, as provided for an original application. SECTION 3. No person, firm, partnership or corporation engaged in the business of Plumbing as defined by the Uniform Plumbing Code of the City of Las Vegas shall employ a Journeyman or Appren­tice Plumber who does not have a valid Certificate of Competency issued by the City of Las Vegas. SECTION 4. Section 1202 of Ordinance No. 700 is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1202. License - Only those persons licensed to do gas fitting may install, alter, or repair gas piping, water heaters or vents regulated by this code; provided, however, that the gas utility may under its franchise install gas piping from meters to existing
