Freeman company PUBLIC RELATIONS 10/18 Mr. Pierre Galante Ik ilH ^ I H&6i^likb 51, Rue Pierre-Charron Paris, France Dear Pierre, Thank you for your letter and it will be nice to see you in November, Following are some of the angles I think would make a good basis for a Las Vegas story: 1m Entertainment Capitol Of The World - In Las Vegas, right in the middle of tbe American Desert, and all confined within a stretch of asphalt only two miles long, are presented more top shows and nightclub extravaganzas than in the whole of any other city in the world! Within 10,000 feet of each other, nine floorshows averaging $30,000 apiece in cost are presented at one time, twice a night, every night in the year. In these shows, the average public dress as they please and for the cost of a drink or a cup of coffee, can see fabulous stars such as Danny Thomas, Sophie Tucker, Jimmy Durante, Lena Home, Marlene Dietrich, Tallulah Bankhead, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, etc. 2, The Business Aspect Of A Boomtown Resort - In one small patch of desert land, more than $100,000,000 of resort construction has boomed up in the last three years, starting at The Sands in 1952, to make real estate prices jump from $100 a foot front on the strip, to $4??500* FroiD a swa11 town of 38,000 people in 1952, when The Sands opened, Las Vegas has zoomed to a pop* ulation of 72,000, causing the usual booms in home building, new businesses and services. The resort hotels in Las Vegas imyed nearly $4,000,000 into the tax coffers of the State of Nevada last year at the rate of 2% of their gross. This year the total will boom to almost $6,000,000 with the tax rate up to 3|% on a sliding scale. The average worker in the resort hotel business of Las Vegas earns 1 3/4 times the income his counterpart earns in other famous resort areas such as Miami, The Riviera, etc, -more- BEVERLY HILLS, CAL. ?╟≤ 449 SOUTH BEVERLY DRIVE ?╟≤ CRESTVIEW 6-4326
