Los Angeles, February IS, 1953 7334 W M . R. FEB 13 1953 Mr. Reinhardt: Regarding Mr. Maag's wire to Superintendent Smith attached: I am informed by Division Engineer Jurden's office that he has requested Superintendent Smith to authorize working B&B forces 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, to expedite completion of repairs to this reservoir. B&B forces are now working on this reservoir roof, having started work February 12th to repair the rotted rafters and sheathing.- Authority has been received to contract reroofing to Roberts Roof Co. at Las Vegas, and that contractor is now assembling his roofing material and should be on hand to start reroofing the first of next week. The by-pass line has been under chlorination for the past three days so that the water can be by-passed around the reservoir as soon as the reservoir is empty. I am advised that Division Engineer Jurden checked with the Weather Bureau at Las Vegas today, and was advised that the cool weather will dissipate tonight and warm weather set in. This fact, together with the anticipated heavy consumption of water at Las Vegas during the holiday week end, which includes Washington’s Birthday, will result in heavy consumption of water, and with all these conditions at hand, it is imperative that these repairs be expedited so that the reservoir can be put back in service at the earliest possible date.
