Mr.H.X.Bettis» Auditor. Bear Sir;- I teg to acknowledge receipt of yours of the Slat ult., which refers to feed hill of Marsh the freighter.amounting to $11.80, which was' collected by "Walter Bracken, and $3.75, the amount paid oyer to our company, Mr.Grace tth|wad me your letter some days ago in which you stated that no part of this amount had been paid to you. You will remember Bracken gave me the money at Las Vegas and I brought it in and gave it to Mr.Comstock and asked him to give it to you; I after wards received the Treasurer* S receipt for same, which I sent to Bracken. There appears to be quite a misunderstanding in regard to this matter between yourself and Bracken; you state that the receipt was dated March 19th, Bracken clains that they were given possession on the 7th, and, if so, they would be entitled to the revenue from that date. You make one claim and Bracken another, so it is pretty , hard for me to advise in the matter. However, I will write Bracken once nore in regard to it. bracken stated to me that Mr.Tuttle unde stood this matter thoroughly, and it might be well for you to write Mr.Tuttle and ask him what his understanding in the matter is, Very truly yours, * (§ig7ied) J- ROSS CLARlfc*.
