Sir: In reply to your letter of 26th ultimo, you are informed that you may slaughter such of the school pigs, and kill such of the chickens, as may he fit for that purpose and can he spared without improperly reducing the number to he kept on hand, and use the same for subsisting the children, as requir­ed, reducing the expenditure of other subsistence supplies corr espondingly.
