F, Vengert* ( oa « Mr, f*fmrA Strong Mr. P. loot Mr* John Snorf) v# have been receiving a few complaints re­cently regarding a •medicated taut to* in the water, The editor of the newspaper phoned mo and we scoured samples from his home for bacteriological and ohemic&l analyses. Both the report# from the local Board of Health and from Dr, Barr allowed ©leer. Farther complaints were received this morning and we inspected the chlorineter at the open spring as being the only source that could contribute tills taste, the float waive on the chlorine tor has & ten­dency to stick open# probably due to sand lodged beneath the seat and when this occurs an excessive charge of chlorine runs into the vat r, especially at night when Veil Ho, 3 1# «hut down. The complaints coincide ex­actly with the instances when the float valve 1# found open, till you please arrange to have a new float valve installed. The manhole cover inside the pump house is broken and decayed and should be replaced. The redwood below the floor of the pump house shove considerable condensation# creating a sweetish deoayed odor, which could probably be eliminated by providing a means of ventilation in the pit. The open spring is overgrown with dried *toolles which should be removed the first time the drag-line Is in this vicinity. A. M, Folger
