Mr. Wm. Reinhardt Page 2 July 30, 1951 The two weeks extension in each case would not he very m a te ria l and y e t, a month's extension would seem to d rag the e n tire proceedings quite a way in advance. However, i f we do ask f o r a month's extension in each case, and then fin d that the "c o ld war" which we are waging i s not securin g the d e s ire d p u b lic it y , we might be a b le to get a h earin g p r io r to September 15th and keep the m atter a g ita te d . Of course, I would not want a h earin g u n t il we had arranged f o r the water engineer and necessary oth er w itnesses and an extension to September 1 st might not give us s u ffic ie n t time to do th at. I would a p p reciate your view s as to what date you think should be included in the amendment to the a p p lic a tio n . In c id e n t a lly , from the newspaper items and from my ta lk with Mr. B u t t e r fie ld on the telephone, I think the d i s t r i c t is s t i l l having tro u ble with i t s contract as the la s t Inform ation I had, the l a t t e r p a rt o f la s t week, was that the contract had come back from Washington with fu rth e r suggested amendments. I think somebody i s g iv in g someone the "run around". I enclose an a i r m ail stamped envelope f o r your re p ly in the event you can not wire me your view s as I am very anxious to get th is amendment to the a p p lic a tio n f i l e d the l a t t e r p a rt o f th is week. Very t r u ly yours^- Enc AIRMAIL
