The atmosphere in the hotel's posh Crystal Room was charged with excitement as nineteen of Las Vegas' most beautiful showgirls were judged for poise, stage presence and beauty in their appearances in bikinis, furs and the actual costumes they wear in their various shows along the Strip. Dean of Las Vegas beauty queen judges, Forrest Duke, headed the nine member judging panel that included headline entertainers Line Renaud, Rusty Warren, Ed Ames, Jack Carter, Jan Murray, Harry James, Woody Woodbury and Bob Newhart. Among the prizes in the Las Vegas style winner-take-all competition was an exquisite $1,000 mink stole and a guest appearance on TV's "Big Valley." Famed motion picture and television personality, Clint Walker, whose next Warner Bros.-Seven Arts release is "The Great Bank Robbery," guided the contestants through their paces as master of ceremony and the exciting mood of the pageant was maintained with the vocal stylings of Jerry Antes, backed up by Dick Saxe and his orchestra. The entire pageant, which was produced by impresario Frank Sennes and directed by the show's originator John Cronan, was video taped in color for later viewing in more than one- hundred major cities throughout the country. ESP, Ltd. produced the video portion of the show which will be released nationally this fall. The winner.
